The Gifted Full Trailer Released: Closer Look At The Young Mutants

Last week, a brief teaser was released as FOX announced that they had officially ordered Matt Nix’s “X-Men” series. The network is basing things off from a pilot episode directed by “X-Men” director Bryan Singer as it continues the ever-growing popularity of comic book TV programs and movies. Now, FOX has just released a full trailer for their newest Marvel-partnered “X-Men” TV show “The Gifted” which gives us an in-depth preview of the tone of the series and what fans can expect to see.
Introducing A New X-Men Family In Marvel’s The Gifted
The trailer gives us a first look of the Stewart family mainly Kate (Amy Acker), her husband Reed (Stephen Moyer) and their kids Andy (Percy Hynes White) and Lauren (Natalie Alyn Lind). Not much can be seen as to how they end up discovering their powers. We are also shown a fleeting footage of a magnetic mutant who Singer later revealed as Polaris. We also see different run-ins between mutants and the authorities. It’s not much, but it definitely heightens the anticipation for whatever “The Gifted” has in terms of expanding the vast timelines in FOX’s “X-Men” universe.
Mutant Discoveries and The X-Men’s Whereabouts
The full trailer for “The Gifted” also gives us a look into the plot as well as who each character is. It’s obvious that Reed and Kate are parents of the young mutants who just discovers their powers. Andy also appears to be acquiring his powers in the first episode, which is also triggered by him being bullied in his school. His sister, however, already has control over her powers and is determined to teach her brother how to use them effectively.
What’s even more interesting about “The Gifted” is the central twist in the premise. Reed is a part of the Sentinel Services (an obvious “X-Men” easter egg referencing the robot mutant killers) tasked to round up mutants and apprehend them. He then finds out about his kids being mutants themselves, which takes a huge turn for his conflict of interest. It puts Reed in a very tight spot but also gives him an edge over what he knows while working in the Service.
Sean Teale’s mutant Marcos Diaz is also a key part of the trailer (and possibly the entire series itself) as he seems to be unsure of how being a mutant fits into the norm. Marcos even drops more hints of “The Gifted’s” connection the “X-Men” by saying “the X-Men, the Brotherhood… we don’t even know if they exist anymore.” At least now we know that these characters are aware of Professor X and his students, and that they are probably in hiding during this timeline.
With the trailer setting things up for another “X-Men” TV universe next to “Legion,” it’s exciting to know that we’re getting another play into the mutant storyline while establishing it’s own path than leans heavily on the comic book origins.
“The Gifted” is slated for a fall premiere on FX. Watch the trailer below:
