2018 will be a huge landmark year for FOX’s “X-Men” cinematic universe. “Deadpool 2,” “New Mutants,” and “Dark Phoenix” are set to hit theaters, with the latter two being new X-Men iterations.
Exciting news just broke out in line with the release of these films as one of them will be getting some much-needed assistance from the characters of the “X-Men: First Class” trilogy.
X-Men Producer Confirms First Class Team Appearance In Dark Phoenix
In a recent interview with Cinemablend, “X-Men” producer Hutch Parker officially gave confirmation that a number of characters from the “First Class” team will be appearing in “Dark Pheonix.” When asked about the heavily-rumored inclusion of Michael Fassbender in the film, Parker said:
“I’d rather not confirm any of those officially, but yes, the current story that we’re working on has that group involved as well as some of the younger characters that we introduced last time.”
We can expect a combination (or maybe all of them) of Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Charles Xavier (James McAvoy), Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) and Beast (Nicholas Hoult) to appear in “Dark Phoenix” as they are the core group from “First Class.” According to the interview, Parker was also hinting that Magneto and Mystique would be the ones to show up in the film.
The younger characters that Parker is referring to are the ones who previously appeared in “X-Men: Apocalypse.” While no word was confirmed, it’s automatically assumed that Jean Grey, Cyclops, Storm, Nightcrawler, Quicksilver and Jubilee will be the main protagonists of “Dark Phoenix.” What we can possibly confirm without hesitation is Jean Grey, since the film is a story about her journey to being “Phoenix.”
Parker hasn’t commented as to how long the “First Class” will be appearing and what roles they would play in the film’s premise.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix is slated for a November 2, 2018 release.
