“Logan” continues to be one of the best comic book movies that have ever been made. A lot of standout performances from the movie’s amazing cast were seen, but nothing compares to what Dafne Keen did for her character Laura (AKA X-23).
Her character was embraced fully by fans and critics, and it’s only a matter of time before we see X-23 back on screen as Keen reprises her role in any future “X-Men” project.
It looks like a very likely possibility, but it doesn’t sound like it’s being considered just yet.
James Mangold On Keen’s Reprisal of X-23
In a recent screening of “Logan Noir” (a black and white cut of the film,) Director James Mangold was asked during a Q&A session if we’ll be seeing Laura back in another “X-Men” movie. Though he did confirm that he has spoken to FOX about it, a guarantee is still not in the picture.
“Anything’s possible. I’ve certainly talked to them about it. I even talked to them about it before we made the movie. I thought she was just such a great character, but with what Dafne did, I think that certainly, that’s possible.” Mangold said.
Given how X-23 has become a fan-favorite especially after “Logan,” her return is apparent; it’s only a matter of when she will be seen again. An appearance in “X-Men: Dark Phoenix” is highly unlikely due to timeline differences. But if you would consider “New Mutants” and the upcoming “X-Force” movie, it’s possible.
In “Logan,” Laura wasn’t the only mutant who was on the run. We see a group of young mutants fighting with her and leaving for Eden; and so a continuation of their story is also another possibility.
There are many storylines that FOX could adapt for Keen’s X-23, and judging by how well-loved her character turned out to be, an announcement might just come to us very soon.
