First-Ever ‘Fist Fight Match’ Rules Revealed Ahead of Tonight’s ‘WWE: Raw’

Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe, and returning superstar Big Show are all gunning for a knock out punch against Seth Rollins and the AOP tonight on WWE: Raw. Last week, it was announced that the six superstars are going to duke it out for a six-man tag-team match featuring the first-ever “Fist Fight” rule. If you were left scratching your head (just like Owens on Twitter last Saturday) about how the match goes, the rules have just been revealed ahead of tonight’s show at Lexington, KY (via TheWrap).
To be clear, the fist-fight is basically a mixture of no-rules matches all rolled into one for Monday Night Raw’s main event. It’s a no-holds-barred, no disqualification, no count-outs, no pinfalls, and no submissions match that sure to bring out the best in both sides of the team. A WWE spokesperson described the rules of the Fist Fight match, saying, “the match ends when the referee declares that one team is no longer able to continue.”
A little bit too early for “Extreme Rules,” don’t you think? But regardless of how ruthless it sounds, the match stipulations are the same—there’s still a script here and one team is surely walking out of WWE: Raw unaware of what happened to them.
“This is a legit fistfight. You know how fistfights are? If we’re in high school and I say, ‘See you at 3 o’clock, meet you around back, we’re gonna have a fistfight.’ Fistfights happen until one guy drops, or two guys drop. This is a rumble, this is ‘West Side Story,'” the spokesperson continued. “This is where a score gets settled or a storyline gets dramatically ramped up.”
A score-settling match, indeed! Only time will tell how Rollins and the AOP would fare against Owens, Joe, and The Big Show. The latter team has all the pent-up rage in their arsenal, and not to mention a smoking gun in the form of The World’s Largest Athlete. Rollins and his shady security team have been bullying the entire Raw locker room ever since the red brand’s poor performance at last year’s Survivor Series. Owens stood up to call them out, and it looks like this feud will go on until its gratifying end at Sunday night’s Royal Rumble.
With Big Show and Samoa Joe on Owens’ side, WWE: Raw will see quite an intense main event match tonight.
