Director Ruben Östlund has been renowned for his bizarre comedies like Force Majeure and The Square, and now he’s ready to come back with his next film, Triangle of Sadness.
Here’s the trailer:
The official description reads:
In Ruben Östlund’s wickedly funny Palme d’Or winner, social hierarchy is turned upside down, revealing the tawdry relationship between power and beauty. Celebrity model couple, Carl (Harris Dickinson) and Yaya (Charlbi Dean), are invited on a luxury cruise for the uber-rich, helmed by an unhinged boat captain (Woody Harrelson). What first appeared instagrammable ends catastrophically, leaving the survivors stranded on a desert island and fighting for survival.
Like a lot of Ostlund’s other movies, the plot of Triangle doesn’t seem very clear, but we should expect a lot of these very odd moments that can have you scratching your head, just from the rich guests pushing the staff around, to them going bonkers when the ship starts to fall apart.
With The Square coming out back in 2017, this is Ostlund’s first movie after a long long while. We don’t know if there have been any changes to his method over the years, but I’m sure that a lot of fans will check in just for the sheer curiosity of what Ostlund wants to bring to the big screen.
Catch Triangle of Sadness when it premieres in theaters on Oct. 7.
