Jack, Will, and Grace are all witnessing a different kind of Karen on this episode of “Will & Grace.” After losing one of her closest maids, Karen reacts in an unusually cranky way. And while it’s not odd for Karen to be that, it’s definitely refreshing to see how she reacts to losing someone she doesn’t realize is important to her. And of course, it is equally as entertaining to see the rest of the gang scared and a little tense around Karen. The snob queen sure is a lot scarier when she’s upset. And to see her heartbroken over Rosario—her maid and best friend—it’s both disheartening and a little frightening. Snob queen turns into snob-zilla, and that’s not a good thing.
Will, Grace and Jack try to comfort Karen
Grace is the first to tread into the dragon’s stomach AKA the bar next door to the church where Karen stayed as the funeral service for Rosario commenced. Prior to her visiting Karen, Will warned her of making it ‘all about her’ as she tends to do. Grace meanwhile, vehemently denied this, saying she knew what was going on with Karen. After all, Grace lost her mother before.
As she sat next to Karen, who wore on her perfectly glam poker face, Grace slowly told the story of her mother’s funeral service and how she lost it there. And yes, you may have guessed it, Grace ended up making it about her again.
Next up is Jack—who already showed signs of the heebie-jeebies around this sad Karen. And while he tried his best to make her laugh by performing a little dance number singing ‘Happy’ by Pharell, Karen wasn’t too pleased.
Finally, Will walks in steadily—and damn, does he know what to say! When Will finally embraces Karen from behind, Karen softens up but keeps a straight face. Sometimes being a little sad needs little words of comfort. And for some people like Karen, that’s all the trick you need.
Surprise Visit from Karen’s stepdaughter Lorraine Finster
It’s no surprise to see at least one of Karen’s relatives to visit. But to see her stepdaughter looking like her—maybe even dressed like her—is a tall raise of the eyebrows. This heavily-accented thief came waltzing in misnaming almost everyone (her mother is the only exception) and expertly snatching jewelry from under people’s noses. Her presence isn’t a real plot changer, but it sure made the episode more entertaining as it already was!
Now since the issue with the office space being leased for Grace’s Interior design shop wasn’t resolved in the episode, better not miss the show next week!
“Will & Grace” returns Tuesday, December 5 at 9/8c on NBC.
