Why Nick and Jess Fans Will Want to Watch New Girl’s “Virgins”

Hey New Girl fans, remember back when we all thought ‘Cooler’ was the definitive episode where Nick and Jess’ relationship was concerned? (who can forget that kiss?) Well as it turns out, “Virgins,” airing Tuesday April 30th, will trump everything we’ve seen to date. Seriously, you will not want to miss this one.
The episode explores – in occasionally excruciating, occasionally surprising but ever hilarious ways – how Schmidt, Winston, Cece, Jess and Nick lost their virginity. The stories begin to come out when Jess receives a text from old flame Teddy – who also happens to be her first love.

As she sets out to explain Teddy’s significance in her early sex life (in a meandering story line involving guitars, a golf course, an impregnable prom dress and a murder) each of the loft mates chips in to relate his or her own story, convinced it trumps Jess’ in any number of painful and embarrassing ways. Prostitutes, famous celebrities, passion-killing political correctness, and enough lubricant to paint a bus all jostle for pride of place in this Tuesday’s episode.
It soon becomes clear, to the audience at least if not the gang, that their early experiences have shaped how they each approach their existing relationships. This gives rise to an unusually tender moment for Schmidt, and a telling one for Cece.
If you’re a Nick and Jess shipper then you’ll see how Jess’ inability to be spontaneous and Nick’s lack of confidence have scuppered this couple’s chances until now. However the real question is, will Nick realize what it is he has to do before he loses Jess to Teddy?
Find out Tuesday April 30th (9:00-9:30 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
New Girl stars Zooey Deschanel as Jess, Jake Johnson as Nick, Max Greenfield as Schmidt, Lamorne Morris as Winston and Hannah Simone as Cece.
