In this week’s episode of Westworld, the different parts of the park are revealed. Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) can forge the last alliance she needs to have a formidable defense against the humans. Maeve (Thandie Newton) and her companions make their way through the park, using the fastest paths available for them to take. While all of these events take place, Bernard (Jeffrey Wright) finds himself trapped and confused between two worlds.
Park Borders
A different part of the park is previewed in the opening sequence. This part has an Indian theme. A guest named Grace (Katja Herbers) is enjoying a cigarette when Nicholas (Neil Jackson) asks to join her. They have a short conversation that ultimately led to their desire for each other, so grace takes Nicholas to her room. In the middle of their making out, Grace wishes to find out if Nicholas is a host, so she gets hold of a gun and shoots him. Seeing that Nicholas is not hurt, she goes on top of him, and they continue to kiss.
The next day, they head to a different location inside the park. Upon arrival, Grace notices that there are no hosts, so she and Nicholas investigate. They find the body of a guest whom Grace rode the train with. Behind them, Ganju, a male host (Sean Mann) points a gun at them. Grace tries to talk him into putting the gun down but Nicholas decides to approach him, but while Grace explains how she knew the dead guest, Ganju shoots him. Grace runs away as far as possible until she runs into a tiger. She continues to run until she crosses the park border, heading into the west. Grace stops on a cliff, looks down, and sees a large body of water. She hears the tiger, so she loads her gun, but she was too late. The tiger pushes her into the cliff. Grace survives the tiger’s attack, but when she crawls ashore, the Ghost Nation Warriors finds her.
The search for Peter Abernathy
Bernard Lowe, Karl Strand (Gustaf Skarsgård), Maling (Betty Gabriel), and Ashley Stubbs (Luke Hemsworth) walk into one of the hangars their team has cleared out. They find Charlotte Hale (Tessa Thompson) there as well as some of their men. Charlotte is surprised to see Bernard. She then asks about the status of their mission, which is recovering the host that they need to deliver, Peter Abernathy (Louis Herthum). They were unable to find him, and so was Charlotte’s team. Charlotte then asks Bernard if he knows where Peter is, but Bernard does not reply. Instead, he has another flashback.
Bernard is holding a tablet that shows Peter’s location. He and Charlotte follow the direction indicated to them. They find a group of hosts led by Rebus holding Peter as well as other human guests captive. They talk about their deal with the Confederados, saying that they are going make a profit in selling them off to them. Charlotte and Bernard cause a diversion. Rebus heads out into their direction. When he finds Charlotte, Bernard knocks him out and reprograms him. When Rebus returns, he kills off the other hosts and sets the guests free. The Confederados arrive and see this. Bernard and Charlotte approach Peter and have him follow them. While they walk off, Rebus kills off some of the Confederados. In the middle of the chaos, Peter decides to reveal himself and confront the remaining Confederados. He sings to get their attention. Two Confederados incapacitate him. Seeing this, Charlotte decides to make a run for it. She gets on a horse and escapes, while Bernard surrenders himself and he and Peter are taken captive by the Confederados.
The Confederados bring Peter, Bernard, as well as other human captives into the prison. While Teddy takes Peter away, Dolores looks at Bernard and has him put inside prison cells along with the other human prisoners. A few moments later, Angela (Talulah Riley) brings Bernard outside the infirmary. Bernard looks around and is surprised to hear Dolores say “hello.” Dolores then brings Bernard to the infirmary, telling him about Peter’s condition. She asks Bernard to help him.
Bernard figures out what is wrong with Peter. It turns out that Peter is playing out all his previous narratives and someone has added a new character to his programming. Whish he has been unable to access. Bernard tells Dolores that Peter has something programmed in him that the humans want so they will go after her, but Dolores dismisses this.
Charlotte Hale arrives in one of the hangars that the security teams have been using. She takes some of the men with her while the others prepare to assault the prison. At that same morning, Bernard finally decrypts the file, and he finds out that Peter is being used as a key. While the fighting is going on outside, Charlotte’s men enter through the back entrance of the prison. Bernard hears the shooting outside, so he unplugs the tablet from Peter and hides. Charlotte’s men find and take Peter out of prison. Dolores sees this, so she follows them along with Teddy. The men board Peter into the vehicle. Before they leave, Dolores and Teddy shoot at them, but Charlotte and her men can escape.
Hearing the explosion, Bernard makes his way out of the prison. Since he is injured, he moves clumsily, and he eventually trips. He looks up and sees Clementine; then Clementine incapacitates him.
The Prison
Dolores and her men wait for Colonel Brigham (Fredric Lehne) and his men to approach them. The Colonel asks Major Craddock (Jonathan Tucker) why Dolores is leading the group instead of him, and Dolores answers by talking to him about rallying against the incoming attack of the humans. As proof of their arrival, Dolores calls in Clementine (Angela Sarafyan) who is dragging a captured human and is holding a gun that the humans use. She gives the gun to the colonel, and the colonel uses it to kill the captive human. Impressed by what he sees, he agrees, and he lets them inside the prison.
At nightfall, some Confederados enter the prison bringing with them their human captives along with Peter and Bernard. Dolores sees her father, Peter, exclaiming something. A Confederado punches him, but Dolores orders her to stop. She commands her father to be taken into the infirmary, but the Confederado refuses, so Teddy knocks him out. Teddy then sets Peter free and help him walk into the infirmary. Dolores looks at Bernard and orders her men to toss him and the others into the prison cells.
Dolores looks at Peter as Teddy sets him down on the bed. Peter is shaking, and his condition saddens Dolores. She and Teddy talk about him, and Dolores tells Teddy that he is the only family she has left. Teddy then hugs her. After this, Dolores talks to Peter while he is in bed. Peter eventually recognizes Dolores, and they play out their previous narratives. However, Peter malfunctions and starts shaking and stuttering. Dolores cries and then leaves the infirmary.
The next morning, the Confederado scouts return, reporting the location of the humans. Dolores and her allies finalize their battle strategy and have their men head to their stations. The humans start shooting at the Confederados. The fight continues as the humans begin to arrive in vehicles. Dolores signals to Angela, and Angela signals to their men to retreat. Seeing that he is losing his men fast, the Colonel decides to have his men retreat. The gate to the prison is closed while his men are retreating. Dolores’ men shoot at the gate, killing the Confederados on the other side. With the humans and Confederados clustered near the entrance, Dolores orders Angela to shoot at the trigger for the Nitro. The Nitro explodes, killing everyone outside the prison.
Dolores orders Teddy to execute Major Craddock and his men. Teddy takes them away to kill them, but after a brief dialogue with the Major, he decides to set them free.
Maeve’s Journey
Lee Sizemore (Simon Quarterman), Maeve Millay (Thandie Newton), and Hector Escaton (Rodrigo Santoro) are walking on a faster route leading them to the location of Maeve’s daughter. Along the way, they encounter the Ghost Nation Warriors. Maeve looks at their leaders and remembers that he was one of those people who had killed her and her daughter in the past. Hector sees them and tries to talk to them. The leader says that he would grant them safe passage if they gave Lee to them. Maeve tries to command them, but this does not work, so they escape.
They make it inside one of the hangars. Once they are there, Hector asks Maeve about the warrior. Maeve tells him about how the warrior is someone from her past that put her and her daughter’s lives in danger, and the fact that he is still alive means that he still poses a threat to them. Hector assures her that they will find her daughter, but he was not so sure of what to do after. Mave then tells him that they will start a new life in the outside world. Deciding that he has had enough of hearing their conversation, Lee interrupts them. He tells them about how their relationship is contradictory to their narratives. Hector is angered, so he threatens Lee, but Maeve calms him down. Hector makes his declaration of love for Maeve then Lee says precisely what Hector says. Hector is visibly bothered by this, so he walks away ahead of Maeve and Lee. Lee tells Maeve about what his inspiration for Hector’s narrative is, which turns out to be his experience. Maeve finds this amusing.
While they are walking through the halls, they hear gunshots and screaming men. They take cover, only to find out that it was Armistice (Ingrid Bolsø Berdal) who is responsible for the chaos. When they make contact, Armistice takes them to the exit where she is holding Felix Lutz (Leonardo Nam) and Sylvester (Plotelomy Slocum). The six of them then exit through the elevator.
They find themselves in a snowy area of the park. They walk cautiously, but Lee decides to stray from the group. He sees the head of a samurai buried in the snow. He hurriedly warns Maeve and everyone else, but it was too late. Before they knew it, a samurai is about to attack them.
