Welcome to Barbieland in New Teaser for Barbie

Cinephiles may be waiting for Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer to release in July, but it’s going to be competing with Greta Gerwig’s take on Barbie.

Just in, we have a new teaser for the movie, and it features a look at Barbieland where all the Barbies and Kens live harmoniously together. Check this out:

We don’t have a synopsis for the movie yet, but the video does come with this description:

To live in Barbie Land is to be a perfect being in a perfect place. Unless you have a full-on existential crisis. Or you’re a Ken.

I guess that existential crisis line is telling, because it’s said that Barbie and Ken will be finding themselves in the real world in the film. I guess Margot Robbie’s Barbie kind of has a crisis and ends up leaving Barbieland with Ken—only to result in Will Ferrell’s evil CEO to go out and find her.

It’s kind of amazing how Barbie has managed to earn so much hype online despite not revealing too much of its main story in the trailer. Since this preview is still classified as a teaser, we should be getting a full trailer with a better idea of what to expect from the film.

I didn’t even play with Barbies, but it’s kind of great how they got all the bright colors to emulate all the toys. I’m just here to watch Margot Robbie take on another pop-culture icon after Harley Quinn.

Barbie comes to theaters on July 21.
