WB has been facing some harsh criticism ever since it pulled the plug on Batgirl, and though they may be adamant on the movie’s non-release, they have extended an olive branch to the people involved with the making of the movie.
THR reports that the rough cut of Batgirl will be screened in the WB lot. Dubbed as ‘funeral screenings,’ insiders will be allowed to take one last look at the movie before it’s perpetually shelved by the studio.
There have been a lot of angry creatives when it came to WB’s recent attempt to save billions in taxes, which has resulted in what some have called very unprofessional behaviour. Artists have been coming out online to sa that their projects have all been pulled without warning, and even Batgirl directors were refused access to their film out of the blue.
In an ironic turn of events though, WB is said to have lost $20 billion in value in an attempt to save $3 billion. We don’t know how things could improve moving forward, but there are currently a lot of angry eyes at WB’s new CEO David Zaslav.
As for Batgirl, there could be a silver lining for its release in the future. At least we know that the movie isn’t completely deleted. Who knows, maybe with enough campaigning from fans, maybe the higher ups will be ensured that profitability of its release in the future.
As of now, Batgirl has no release date.
