WB Still Open to Letting Leslie Grace Play Batgirl

Fans were gearing up for Leslie Grace’s Barbara Gordon in the Batgirl movie, but were disappointed when it was reported that the movie has been pulled from release on any platform. A lot of fans have been calling for WB to #ReleaseBatgirl, but it looks like the studio is going another route with Grace.

According to Variety, WB is looking to ‘mend fences’ with Grace and is ‘entertaining the possibility of having her continue to play Batgirl in a future DC film’. While it’s not really her own movie, at least Grace gets to keep her Batgirl status, and we’ll just have to wait and see when DC wants to put her onscreen.

If anything, it feels like a bittersweet win. After all, they did wrap production for the film and it was said that the movie was already in the later stages of post-production. Maybe if we got Batgirl appearing in some regular properties first, there could be a chance that WB will reconsider and release the movie.

My guess is, the continuity could be a tad confusing with the movie said to be keeping Michael Keaton’s Batman, but some of the Justice League characters like J.K. Simmons’ Jim Gordon. Maybe it will make sense after The Flash, but seeing as that film is also in trouble, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

It was such a shock that Batgirl should be cancelled while Black Canary manages to keep moving forward, since Barbara Gordon is much more popular than Dinah Lance. Fans are speculating all over the place why WB would pull the project; hopefully we’ll get some kind of explanation soon.

Batgirl has no release date.
