WB Planning to Reboot Harry Potter as a Series

With the Fantastic Beasts franchise failing to launch the Wizarding World brand for WB, it looks like the studio is going to be doing an ‘ol reliable trick to rejuvenate the Harry Potter franchise.
According to Bloomberg, WB is said to be nearing a deal that will reboot the Harry Potter books as an online television show. Each season would be covering one book from J.K. Rowling’s best-selling series, and Rowling herself is also said to be attached to the project to ensure her original vision is kept.
Already you can imagine the online backlash that the news received, considering that the Potter films have been beloved by fans since the series had started. Despite the franchise having ended back in 2011, fan enthusiasm for the Wizarding World is still pretty palpable online; there’s a reason Universal Studios has the Wizarding World of Harry Potter attraction.

With Sorcerer’s Stone coming out 20 years ago, a lot of fans consider the films to have aged pretty well. Admittedly, a lot of things from the books have been cut in the films for time, but I think all the core elements are still there.
If they were to add something, I guess I wouldn’t mind watching a whole Quidditch World Cup match which was removed from Goblet of Fire.
Personally, I’m on the side of fans that doesn’t think a reboot is necessary, but if they really wanted to get a Potter property out there, I think they could just focus on Harry’s kid Albus Potter and give him his own adventures in Hogwarts; effectively retconning the poorly received Cursed Child play.
A Harry Potter reboot hasn’t been officially announced.
