Get ready to see the blood-smeared smiley face soon because “Watchmen” is on it’s way to HBO. Aside from “Watchmen” being one of the influential comics out there, talks of the director have fans keeping in tune. The DC graphic novel by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons has director Damon Lindelof in talks of handling the series.
Lindelof’s Possible Role In The Works
Unfortunately for those in hopes, the reports of Lindelof steering the series still isn’t set in stone. The “Lost” writer and producer still has to officially sign the project for the matter to be settled. Alongside that, the “Watchmen” adaptation plans are still ongoing and in development. Included in this are the starring roles in the series.
As of now there isn’t much going on yet and things are still in works. But betting on Lindelof’s liking to the mini-series all in itself, he might just go for it. Pertaining to the comics, Lindelof tells CBR that “Watchmen” has an influence on his own writing.
Zack Synder’s ‘Watchmen’ Film
Before the talks of the television series, “Watchmen” already exists as a film adaptation in 2009. Zack Synder, director of Justice League, directed the film. From a $130 million budget, the 2009 “Watchmen” film grossed $183 million.
It was starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan (The Comedian), Billy Crudup (Doctor Manhattan), Patrick Wilson (Nite Owl), Matthew Goode (Ozymandias), Jackie Earle Haley (Rorschach), and Malin Akerman (Silk Spectre). But despite having directed that film, Synder will not be part of the upcoming television series.
