WATCH: Teaser for Strange World has Jake Gyllenhaal Leading the Cast

Disney Pixar is set to bring us to space with this month’s Lightyear, but Walt Disney Animation Studios just dropped a new teaser for their upcoming space exploration epic, Strange World.

Check out the teaser trailer from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ all-new feature film “Strange World.” Jake Gyllenhaal (“The Guilty,” “Spider-Man: Far from Home”) lends his voice to Searcher Clade, the son of a steadfast explorer. The original action-adventure journeys deep into an uncharted and treacherous land where fantastical creatures await the legendary Clades, a family of explorers whose differences threaten to topple their latest—and by far— most crucial mission.

The movie is being directed by Don Hall and Qui Nguyen who have worked together on Raya and the Last Dragon. While we know that a lot of the story is going to be about retro sci-fi, I’m pretty sure there are going to be some strong family themes, especially when it comes to the Clades family.

With Encanto putting such a huge emphasis on family toxicity as its main villain, I have a feeling we could be looking at the same thing for Strange World. Then again, I think it’s time for a flipping of the genre, where the protagonist is thrust into a family that is more positive and nurturing.

At least, that’s my pitch. I think the generational trauma thing has been overdone, especially with the recent release of Turning Red.
