Watch Raunchy Trailer for Adult Animated Fantasy The Legend of Vox Machina

Amazon Prime Video has given us a gory take on the superhero genre with Invincible, and now they’re ready to take that raunch and violence into the fantasy realm with The Legend of Vox Machina. We just got the first trailer and it promises some R-rated magic and mayhem.

They’re rowdy, they’re ragtag, they’re misfits turned mercenaries for hire. Vox Machina is more interested in easy money and cheap ale than actually protecting the realm. But when the kingdom is threatened by evil, this boisterous crew realizes that they are the only ones capable of restoring justice. What began as a simple payday is now the origin story behind Exandria’s newest heroes.

The series is actually based on a Dungeons & Dragons campaign from another show called Critical Role on Geek & Sundry. That series follows a group of voice actors as they meet up weekly to play D&D with their Dungeon Master Matthew Mercer. Vox Machina actually brings back a lot of actors from Critical Role, and even Mercer gets to play his own character in the series.

As per Variety, the show has been three years in the making and was greenlit after a successful Kickstarter campaign back in 2019. Supporters of the Kickstarter were promised access to episodes early, but the rest of the world will be able to tune in to the adventures of the Vox Machina soon.

Catch The Legend of Vox Machina when it premieres on Amazon Prime Video on Jan. 28.
