We may not have gotten a new movie for Star Wars Day, but Disney+ did drop the second season for the animated anthology series Star Wars: Visions 2. You can practically breeze through the episodes in a day, so Disney has released a new featurette giving us a behind-the-scenes look at the studios who collaborated with the series.
Check this out:
Though the first season of Star Wars: Visions had come from a handful of anime studios from Japan, Lucasfilm had decided to expand their reach to other countries when it comes to the second season. While I was kind of hoping we got continuations of some shorts from the first season, I am excited to see what a Claymation studio like Aardman (Wallace & Gromit) is going to do with a property like Star Wars.
With Marvel’s What If…? having a unified art style for every episode, Visions had turned out to be the experimental, creative anthology series that I wanted What If to be. With shows like The Boys getting animated anthology series as well, I’m just happy to see Lucasfilm invest in a project that’s more creator-centric rather than the nostalgia-pandering shows like Obi-Wan Kenobi and The Book of Boba Fett.
Admittedly each short isn’t for everyone, but there is always something to love about every season—kind of like Netflix’s Love, Death + Robots.
