Watch: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Corlys Velaryon’s Trophy Hall

Corlys Velaryon may not be Targaryen royalty, but he has managed to amass huge wealth with his exploits—hence earning the nickname of the Sea Snake. The last episode of House of the Dragon had us visiting his castle at the Driftmark, and a new featurette gives us a better look at Corly’s ‘Hall of Nine’.
Watch this:
The room was said to have been dubbed as the ‘Hall of Nine’ as an allusion to the nine voyages of Corlys. As per showrunner Ryan Condal, Corlys is considered to be the Sinbad of this time, so his massive success can be alluded to the adventures he had sailing the seas and finding all kinds of treasure—the latest trophy being the mask of the Crabfeeder.
It is kind of a bummer that we’re only told of Corly’s success, but this is House of the Dragon after all, so it’s simply not his story. That being said, he’s still considered to be a major player in this series, being the head of one of the richest houses in the realm.
Book readers will already know the fate of Corlys when it comes to the incoming Dance of Dragons, but for now, fans are just having fun and speculating with the characters. For all the toxic betrayals happening, the Velaryons are actually considered to be the more stable couple in the show, and I’m just hoping they come out on top by the end of it all.
New episodes of House of the Dragon premiere on HBO Max every Sunday.
