The show opens with James Corden asking Bruno Mars about his outfit. They try out different hats realizing each one looks better on Bruno than on James. Then James asks the most popular question: “Do you mind listening to some music?” Bruno then opens with one of his latest hit “24k Magic” and “Locked Out of Heaven.”
James later asks Bruno about his career, saying, “When did you first know… Oh, I wanna perform and this is what I wanna do?” Bruno responds, “Four years old. I was impersonating Elvis Presley In my dad’s Rock n’ Roll 1950’s review in Waikiki.” They then sing to “Catch A Grenade For Ya.”
In another hilarious moment, James delves deep into Bruno Mars’ latest release, “Versace on the Floor.” James jokes about the line “I unzip the back to watch it fall” and mentions how Bruno sings it so romantically but for James in real life, it’s just totally the opposite. Bruno then gives James some tips on how to look and feel sexy, starting with some shoulder movements. It gets funnier as James tries to pick up Bruno’s tips.
The two later sing another one of Bruno’s hits, “If I Knew.” James then asks about what Bruno demands in his dressing room. Bruno says, “Booze, water and wet wipes.” James tells him how it will be a tragedy for him to come home with just wet wipes and wine.
“Uptown Funk” follows next, and now both of them are getting hella’ crazy in the car, having a blast! James asks about Bruno’s life in LA and if he really did pay his rent by playing cards. He says, “For a little while, yeah.” They do a few role-playing about how each of them played cards.
They later sing to “Perm.” At one point, James tells Bruno,”Man that’s it. I’ve never felt more alive.” Bruno responds by saying, “Man, I told you. I told you!”
