‘This Is Us’ Casts Daredevil Actor Rob Morgan Into New Political Arc of Season 3

As we get closer to the third season premiere of This Is Us in September, NBC is now dropping the facts about the upcoming drama little by little. The series has just welcomed Daredevil and Mudbound actor Rob Morgan into the fold of Season 3 in a recurring role.

This Is Us Season 3 will usher in a political subplot. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Morgan comes into the scene as the smart and charming Solomon Brown. He is the long-time city councilman who oversees the district where Randall’s late birth father, William, lived before they reunited.

‘This Is Us’ Keeps Adding To The Suspense

At the end of Season 2, Randall, played by Sterling K. Brown, bought the building where his father used to live. He and his wife, Beth, are overseeing its renovation hoping to give back to the community. There’s no word of who Brown will be dealing with among the Pearson’s, but, Randall’s move sets him up as the top candidate.

This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman kept his lips sealed tight about who’ll be jumping into the world of politics. “Someone starts entering the world of local politics. It’s nothing big and national — nothing Republican vs. Democrat or left vs. right — but we’re going to dive into some community hot political waters with a surprising character,” Fogelman said.

In addition to this new political arc, Sterling K. Brown’s Randall has also left a humongous question for everybody at the end of Season 2. Who is this “her” that he and his daughter Tess are talking about with such doom? In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Brown guaranteed that his lips are sealed. His on-screen wife Susan Kelechi Watson assured fans that This Is Us isn’t killing off her character, Beth, anytime soon. But according to Brown, it’s probably not what viewers would suspect.

In a few more weeks, viewers will see how this will all play out with the addition of Rob Morgan’s character. Aside from Daredevil and Mudbound, Morgan has also recently worked on Greyhound, Last Black Man in San Francisco, Stranger Things, and Luke Cage.

This Is Us Season 3 premieres Tuesday, September 25th on NBC.
