'Two Sentence Horror Stories' Set for a Summer 2019 Premiere on The CW

Network giant The CW plans to add another original to its already long list of anthology series this summer. Titled Two Sentence Horror Stories, the show is set to premiere after the series finale of iZombie.

The new series is the network’s 12th original for summer 2019, the most ever in the network’s history. Most viewers will remember the series’ first debut as a short-form content in 2017 on the go90 app. The success of its run on the platform—which showed the effectiveness of anthology series—convinced The CW to adapt it for its network.

What Is Two Sentence Horror Stories About?

The new anthology series will focus on new characters and new stories in each episode.

Deadline reports that Two Sentence Horror Stories will feature “contemporary tales of horror and haunting for the diverse and digital age. Inspired by the viral fan fiction of two-sentence horror stories, the anthology series taps into universal primal fears, filtered through the anxieties of the most connected and racially diverse generation. Despite dizzying advancements in technology, inequality, social progress, and environmental degradation…the things that haunt us are still the same.”

The CW confirmed that the show is inspired by the viral fan fiction on the two-sentence horror stories subreddit. The premise will allow creators to craft a terrifying premise that only needs a minimal amount of words to conjure terror. Not to be confused with Nextflix’s Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, this anthology series will focus on tasking the viewers with predicting what happens in the series with just sentences given. The two sentences are made to tell a story, be short and descriptive yet very terrifying.
