Season 4’s Twisty The Clown might just be hanging around when the seventh season of “American Horror Story” rolls in. This is according to the latest teaser posted by series creator Ryan Murphy on Instagram. A few details have only ever been revealed, but Murphy’s posts have become the central focus of discussion when it comes to what season 7 has to offer.
The past few months have seen Murphy tease about a new monster, announce the casting of “Arrow’s” Colton Haynes and leave a cryptic snapshot for the next new season. But outside of the showrunner’s social media posts, we already know that “American Horror Story” Season 7 will focus on the 2016 presidential elections. Though the series won’t be featuring characters who will play Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton, the story will pick up on election night.
Series regulars Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Adina Porter and Cheyenne Jackson are set to return for the next season and will be joined by newcomers Billie Lourd, Billy Eichner and Leslie Grossman.
Ryan Murphy Teases Twisty The Clown Comic Book In American Horror Story Season 7
In line with Murphy’s newest teaser on Twisty the Clown (John Carroll Lynch), fans can remember the creator’s interview last year with Entertainment Weekly on how “American Horror Story” Season 7 will go into “deeper histories and mythologies” for several creatures in “Freak Show.” Twisty seems to be the first character off his list, as confirmed by the photo below:
In case you forgot, Twisty was the killer clown baddie of “American Horror Story: Freak Show.” He joined the circus very young. Just as he was gaining more fame, his jealous co-freaks started a rumor that he was molesting kids. Things got out of hand, and Twisty was fired. When he returned to his hometown, Jupiter, he found out that his mother died. He went on to sell toys but was unsuccessful. This led him to try to kill himself with a shotgun. However, instead of killing himself, he ended up blowing off his entire lower jaw. As a result, he started kidnapping children to “save” them from their parents, eventually becoming a role model for the demented Dandy Mott (Finn Wittrock). Towards the end of “Freak Show,” Twisty was killed by Edward Mordrake, the two-faced ghost.
So with Twisty’s death occurring in the 1940’s, “American Horror Story” Season 7 could take things with the character as an apparition—or as what the photo above is suggesting—a ghost story that’s shared in hushed tones. These are all speculations, though, given how Murphy didn’t give any other kind of detail with the post.
“Amercian Horror Story” returns this fall on FX.
