Nothing can ruin your day at the park quite like a gaggle of birds trying to get into your business. One minute you’re having a nice time on the swing and the next a swarm of birds is trying to get the latest gossip on your life. That’s why I try to stay away from birds and most outdoor settings. I like to think of myself as “indoorsy,” which is why an ancient, crazy witch would probably never find me. Haha! I’ve been inside this entire time binge watching Hannah Montana on Netflix! Nice try, Esther!
This week’s episode of The Originals, entitled “The Brothers That Care Forgot,” was a lesson in family solidarity, and in how to steer clear of any and all animals of the air that may be spying on you right now.
It’s been months since we’ve last seen the very much-missed Mikaelson sister, Rebekah. She’s been chilling in some unknown state, driving a soccer mom van, and caring for baby Hope. Unfortunately, Esther has been trying to track her daughter since her resurrection and has been successful in doing so with a flock of angry looking birds.
Over in New Orleans, Klaus and Elijah were having a nice breakfast with Finncent and Koleb. Klaus wanted to manipulate the information of their mothers plan out of them, but Elijah was much more interested in the torture aspect of the plan. In an odd role reversal, Klaus forbade Elijah from getting too violent. Kol was much more interested in eating beignets and Finn was still loyal to Esther, even after Elijah went for the unwarranted bite and slurp.
Out in the bayou, Hayley was trying to unite the pack. Jackson, still down in the dumps over the loss of Ollie and now Ansel, claimed he had no ideas on how to do so. Fortunately for a snooping Hayley, she uncovered an ancient ritual Jackson had learned from Ansel. Thousands of years ago wolf bloodlines had their own unique abilities. Marrying Alpha’s from bloodlines merged the abilities of the packs, leading to a mesh of all the different aspects of being a modern day wolf. No special powers still existed, except for Hayley, a hybrid that could change at will. If she and Jackson married their bloodlines they would bestow the same ability to the entire pack. Jackson wasn’t so forthcoming with the information because he knew Hayley would be reluctant to actually follow through on the marriage part.
Marcel left Josh to watch over a determined Davina. She was still insistent on taking down Klaus, but there were bigger problems at hand. Davina sneakily suggested Josh invite Aiden over for some afternoon canoodling and who could say no? The wolf and the vampire, though, seemed to have turned off their supernatural hearing as Davina skipped out on their private moment to sneak off to Kol’s magical tomb.
Hayley asked Cami for access into her uncle’s closet of supernatural junk to find more information on the merging ceremony. Cami wasn’t feeling too hot and quickly discovered she had weird, masochistic marks running down her back.
Klaus sent Elijah to check on Rebekah and Hope, but he had gotten hungry in the wait for her. Elijah quickly filled Rebekah in on Esther’s plan and even admitted to the body swapping being an intriguing offer. Rebekah seemed a little interested too, but it was a peek into the back of the diner that revealed something more sinister. Elijah, unable to control his impulses and paranoia once again, had slaughtered every patron of the restaurant.
Marcel and Klaus had been at it all day trying to extract information from Finn and Kol. Finn revealed the story of Dahlia to Klaus and Kol confessed he had only ever wanted a place in the family. Both stories were enough fodder for Klaus to proceed with his plans. Davina showed up to ruin the fun and tried to poison Klaus with her spelled blood. Cami showed up in time to show the gang the marks on her back, which was the sign that Esther was preparing her for an ancient spell; she was to be used as a vessel. Cami freaked out on Finn who revealed it was Rebekah that she was to be a vessel for, not Esther. Now everyone was on Team Destroy Esther.
The wolves had convened for a meeting where Hayley divulged the ritual with the pack. She even agreed to marry Jackson in order to cement the wolves’ loyalty to them. Jackson was stunned, but also agreed to go through with the marriage. The wolves would no longer be Esther’s slaves.
Rebekah snapped Elijah’s neck to tame him and quickly let Klaus know what was happening. After sealing Finn in his coffin, Klaus called on Hayley and it was off to help Rebekah and Elijah, but more importantly, see their daughter.
Things we need to discuss:
- How long until we see Dahlia in the flesh or hanging out in someone as a vessel?
- I don’t think Elijah will be too thrilled about Hayley’s marriage. I’m not even thrilled about it and I only “ship” Elijah/me.
- I would also like to share a beignet with Klaus and Kol.
