Moms are the strongest people to have ever walked planet Earth. Enter Marlo, a mom who’s obviously stressed at all things related to motherhood. Charlize Theron plays her character, and you can’t help but wonder what the hell she’s thinking about. I mean, who drops a phone on a baby’s face?! Before you get all riled up, check out the trailer below:
Directed by Academy Award-nominee Jason Reitman (Up in the Air), with a script penned by Academy Award-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody (Juno), the movie follows the story of Marlo, played by Theron, a mother of three and someone who loves to be spaced out. One night, Marlo’s brother (Mark Duplass) gifts her a thoughtful, surprising, and sometimes challenging young nanny named Tully (McKenzie Davis), to help her around and maybe take some weight off her shoulders for once. At first, Marlo isn’t comfortable with the extravagance, but the story fleshes out in a way that shows a unique bond between Marlo and Tully.
It’s an interesting premise and one that would puzzle everyone who’ll come out to watch it because it’s actually an R-Rated comedy film from Reitman and Cody. There aren’t many details revealed in the teaser trailer, but one thing is certain—the Theron-Davis dynamic is one to watch out for.
“TULLY” hits theaters April 20, 2018.
