Hannibal Lecter may be pop-culture’s most famous cannibal, but America was once haunted by real-life cannibal Jeffrey Dahmer. What’s interesting is, the people behind American Crime Story want to tell the story behind Dahmer, and they’ve cast X-Men vet Evan Peters to play the part. Now Netflix has dropped a new trailer Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story and Peters’ performance will leave a chill down your spine.
Watch this:
Besides Peters, the miniseries has also managed to nab a star-studded cast which includes Richard Jenkins, Molly Ringwald, and Michael Learned. I’m actually pretty surprised to see Niecy Nash be part of the cast, seeing as I know her best from her Reno 911 days. It’s pretty odd watching Deputy Raineesha Williams calling the cops on Jeffrey Dahmer.
If you’ve watched American Crime Story, you’ll notice the narrative always changes based on the nature of who the main suspect of the show is. I mean, The People vs. OJ Simpson was a completely different series compared to The Assassination of Gianni Versace. Nevertheless, I think execution of both was pretty interesting, and I’m sure they’ll have a unique way in telling the story of Dahmer and his victims.
The official description of the series reads:
From the Emmy award winning creator of American Crime Story comes Dahmer – Monster: the Jeffrey Dahmer Story. The series examines the gruesome and horrific true crimes of Jeffrey Dahmer and the systemic failures that enabled one of America’s most notorious serial killers to continue his murderous spree in plain sight for over a decade.
Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story comes to Netflix this Sept. 21.
