Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will Allegedly Lead Avengers: The Kang Dynasty

Avengers movies have always been ensemble films, but there are always the ‘lead’ characters who have the most significant arcs. Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man is arguably the lead of all the Infinity Saga Avengers movies, and now it looks like they have the new anchor for the upcoming Kang Dynasty.

According to insider @MyTimeToShineH, it will be Tom Holland’s Spider-Man that will be the new lead of the next Avengers film, The Kang Dynasty. We don’t have any details beyond that, but it’s probably no surprise he could be the lead, granted he’s the most popular MCU hero whose solo movies can rival the numbers of entire team-up films.

Admittedly Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has always been treated like a kid throughout his run in the MCU so far, but after the events of No Way Home, it would make sense for him to evolve into the leader type, after all, he’s been superheroing around for almost a decade.

Though logically I understand why Spider-Man would be the lead, I would imagine narratively that there are more characters that deserve the ‘leader’ role for the Avengers. Sam Wilson’s Captain America is essentially the first choice based on experience, but we also have James Rhodes a.k.a. War Machine who has been with the Avengers for just as long. I guess you don’t have to be the leader of the team to be the ‘lead’ of the movie, but then again, these are just rumors. Things could probably change based on what kind of numbers Armor Wars or Captain America: New World Order could make.

For now, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is set to release on May 2, 2025.
