Tom Holland Shares New 'Spider-Man: Far From Home' Set Photo With Mysterio

Avengers: Endgame is out. Now, the only thing missing to complete phase 3 and transition into phase 4 of the MCU is Spider-man’s upcoming solo movie Spider-Man: Far From Home. Fortunately, Far From Home lead actor Tom Holland wasn’t shy on dropping a new teaser photo of him and Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio on his Instagram.

Spider-Man: Far From Home happens a couple of months after the events of Endgame, and it follows Peter Parker as he goes on a European vacation with his friends. Sadly, his plans of taking a break from the superhero stuff are cut short. Nick Fury taps him for an overseas mission. And in this mission, Peter helps Fury uncover the mystery of several elemental creature attacks wreaking havoc across the continent.

At first glance, Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio seems to be an ally more than a foe to Spider-Man. In fact, Spider-Man: Far From Home director Jon Watts says that while Tony Stark was the mentor in the previous films, Quentin Beck a.k.a Mysterio would be the cool uncle. However, seeing that Mysterio is one of Spider-Man’s long-running foes in the comics, we’ll have to wait and see how it all turns sour.

In addition to Mysterio, Spider-Man would also be facing two other elemental baddies created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in 1965. One of them would be Molten Man. Though his appearance in the trailer was very brief, fans could now see him in his action figure form. Contrary to his 60’s comic human torch look, he looks more monster than man now.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is directed by Jon Watts, based on the script written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Holland would be reprising his role as Peter Parker together with Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, and Martin Starr. Other cast members include Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Jon Favreau, Jake Gyllenhaal, Tony Revolori, Numan Acar, J.B. Smoove, Oli Hill, Remy Hii, and Michael Keaton.

Spider-Man: Far From Home hits theaters July 5th.
