We’re slowly being ushered into a new generation of Marvel heroes, and at the top of the list are Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and Florence Pugh’s new Black Widow. What’s interesting is, the two have already talked about a team-up together, but they’ve yet to bring it over to the Marvel higher-ups.
Talking to The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show (via ComicBook), Holland revealed:
“[A Spider-Man and Black Widow II crossover] hasn’t been suggested to the big bosses yet, but Florence and I have definitely spoken about it, and hopefully one day we can make that happen. That would be very cool.”
If anything, the two do have spider-themed characters, and it would be great to see a team-up. This is just my pitch, but maybe Yelena Belova and Peter can team-up and Yelena decides to come up with her own character called Black Cat; it can be a one-time name (like Night Monkey), and it could leave room for someone else like Felicia Hardy to take on the Black Cat mantle.
For now, Marvel has sold the chemistry between Yelena and new Hawkeye Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld). Though we have no official confirmation, the two (and Spider-Man) are very much frontrunners for the MCU’s “Young Avengers” lineup. We don’t know where the characters are appearing next, but fans would sure love to see how they bounce off each other.
Catch Spider-Man in No Way Home now in theaters. Yelena can be spotted in Hawkeye now streaming on Disney+.
