Tinder to Launch Its Own Choose-Your-Own-Adventure Original Series

Tinder is more than just the swipes and likes now. Similar to Netflix’s Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, the match-making social app is reportedly launching its own interactive original content with a Choose Your Own Adventure-type series set during the end of the world.

According to Variety, the as-yet-untitled original series (tentatively dubbed “Project X”) will follow a bunch of individuals who are thrown into the chaos of the end of the world by asking, “who would you spend your last night alive with?” Of course, the only way for you to navigate your way through the interactive series is by swiping left or right. And what’s even more exciting is that the upcoming series will have over two hours of content.

Although a Tinder original series sounds a bit off-brand, the project remains rooted in the app’s main feature, which is match-making. Variety reports that users who will be watching and making their own choices within the show will also be matched with users who have the same set of interactions—a good way to get the ball rolling on those awkward first-time interactions within the app.

The untitled Tinder apocalyptic show will have six episodes total and was directed by music video director Karena Evans. She is the creative eye behind hit videos for Drake songs such as “In My Feelings” and “Nice For What.” Evans also helmed the pilot episode of Starz’s P-Valley.

Given the potential that the untitled Tinder show has, its producers are also considering a streaming platform exclusive release down the line. However, Variety’s sources failed to provide details on whether or not Tinder will provide a definitive version of the series, or if the social platform will have to shop around for another partner who can support the user-controlled outcome of the series.

“Project X” recently wrapped its production in Mexico City and is currently slated to hit Tinder on the first week of October 2019.
