Tim Blake Nelson on His Role in Dune: Part Two

With actors like Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken, and Austin Butler, you can bet that Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two already has a star-studded cast.

Tim Blake Nelson (Watchmen), who was confirmed for a role in the movie last January, has opened up about his role in Dune, and according to a recent appearance on Marc Maron’s WTF Podcast (via @CinemaSoIace), his role is only going to be a cameo.

For specifics, Nelson’s character Hasimir Fenring is an adviser of the emperor (Walken), and Fenring is also said to be a formidable assassin if needed. I think it’s also worth noting that Fenring’s wife, Margot, is also a member of Bene Gesserit, and she’ll be played by Lea Seydoux in Dune: Part Two.

With Fenring said to be a close adviser to the emperor and a ‘failed Kwisatz Haderach’, I think that Nelson’s role could actually be a larger one in the film. Who knows, maybe his use of the word ‘cameo’ could be an understatement, but we don’t know exactly how the movie could change things.

Either way, I always enjoy Nelson in whatever role he plays from The Ballad of Buster Scruggs to Watchmen, and I’m pretty sure he’ll have something interesting to do in Dune. I mean, why else waste such a good cast member?

For now, Dune: Part Two is set to release in theaters on Nov. 3. Hopefully we get a teaser sometime around May.
