Thunderbolts: Invincible’s Steven Yeun Allegedly Cast as the Sentry

A week ago it was reported that Invincible star Steven Yeun had been cast in Marvel’s Thunderbolts project in a ‘significant’ role, and fans had been speculating on who he could be from Mister Negative to the Sentry. As it turns out, maybe one of those guesses could be true.

As per The Direct, multiple sources have seemingly confirmed that Yeun is playing Bob Reynolds for the MCU a.k.a. The Sentry.

The Sentry is a newer Marvel hero that was created around 2000 and has the ‘power of a million exploding suns’ which are granted to him by taking a special potion. Probably the most interesting thing about the Sentry is kind of his mental issues in which he can’t remember being a superhero and that he’s worked with established groups like the Fantastic Four, but the movies will probably give him a change in origin.

My guess is that the Sentry will be an unstable, dangerous metahuman in Thunderbolts, and it will be up to the team to stop him. That, or maybe he becomes a one-off member that just shows up in future MCU projects from time to time.

If anything, Yeun is definitely an interesting choice for the character, and it’s going to be interesting to see a fan favorite like him come to live-action. I’m just hoping that Marvel really doesn’t squander his character, like they did with several other interesting ones in the past.

Thunderbolts is set to release in theaters on July 26, 2024. Catch Yeun in the second season of Invincible which hits Amazon Prime Video later this year.
