Things Get Rowdy in New Clip from Critical Role Spinoff The Legend of Vox Machina

It took a while to get off the ground, but The Legend of Vox Machina, based on a Dungeons & Dragons campaign from Critical Role, is now set to premiere this week. Just in, we have a new clip introducing us to the heroes (and antiheroes) that make up Vox Machina.

Watch this:

Though we’ve had several adult fantasy series before, Vox Machina really does feel like it’s a fantasy campaign played by modern players. Though we had a show like this with Harmonquest, it looks like Vox Machina is going to be dropping the meta element and just giving audiences a straight up action fantasy adventure without the fourth wall-breaking.

After the gratuitous violence of Invincible, it looks like Vox Machina will be the one following suit; they even have the same art style. If you want to know more about Vox Machina before the actual series premiere, you can always check out Critical Role on Geek & Sundry on Youtube. It features the original actors in the series, and gives some context on the characters in the actual show.

They’re rowdy, they’re ragtag, they’re misfits turned mercenaries for hire. Vox Machina is more interested in easy money and cheap ale than actually protecting the realm. But when the kingdom is threatened by evil, this boisterous crew realizes that they are the only ones capable of restoring justice. What began as a simple payday is now the origin story behind Exandria’s newest heroes.

The Legend of Vox Machina premieres on Amazon Prime Video on Jan. 28.
