The Walking Dead: Daryl And Carol Back Together In First Season 8 Image

It looks like reunions will be a thing for season 8 of “The Walking Dead.” With a new image released, it confirms the continuation of Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol’s (Melissa McBride) short reunion from season 7. The photo shows the zombie-killing duo armed and ready for some action. It’s also the first promotional image for “The Walking Dead” Season 8.

A lot of fans have been hoping for the duo to have more screentime together, as they have been mostly apart in Seasons 6 and 7. With Carol spending much of her time in isolation in a place near The Kingdom and Daryl being mostly held captive by Negan (and ultimately escaping), there wasn’t much interaction between the two, save for when Daryl went to her house for a brief reunion.

What Does Carol And Daryl’s Reunion Mean for ‘The Walking Dead’ Season 8?

In an emotional episode in season 7 called “New Best Friends,” the pair had an intimate reunion once Daryl learned about where Carol was from Richard. When he realized that it was because of the pain of losing people that drove Carol away from people, he chose not to tell her about Abraham and Glenn’s death. A lot of things changed since that reunion. And the photo released by Entertainment Weekly from “The Walking Dead” Season 8 tells us how things are going to be between them.

In the end, Carol found out about the deaths from Morgan which then led her to participate in the battle against Negan and The Saviors. It was this war where we saw all the main characters reunited in one awesome scene. The previous season of “The Walking Dead” gave us some storylines that revolved around Alexandria, the Kingdom, the Colony, the Scavengers and the Saviors. Rick’s group is no longer down on its knees, and they are more than ready to fight it out against Negan’s cohorts.

In the same interview from the photo release, showrunner Scott M. Gimple spoke about the united front that the characters are building to finally overthrow Negan and the experience of seeing the group reunited once again.

“The season finale last year, seeing all the characters together interacting as one, was thrilling. It was exciting to see all these configurations of characters we hadn’t seen before. Even Aaron merely giving Jerry an Apple felt satisfying,” Gimple said. The showrunner also claims that season 8 will give the fans more unifying moments. “This is that times a million,” Gimple added.

“The Walking Dead” season 8 premieres this fall on AMC.
