Sundance Head is the winner of “The Voice” Season 11, adding another feather on the cap of coach Blake Shelton. He is also Team Blake’s fifth win throughout the many seasons of the competition. As the excitement over his win, especially among country music fans, dies down, here are five things one should know about “The Voice” winner.

- Sundance is not his real name. According to an article on The Hollywood Life, his real name is Jason Head. In an earlier interview, he also said that the name was given to him by his parents who were apparently hippies.
- Sundance was born into music. His father is the famous Roy Head Kent, of the band The Traits, and singer and composer of the song “Treat Her Right.” The song was on top of the charts back in 1965, right at the same time that The Beatles’ “Yesterday” made its way to the top as well. Sundance performed this song with coach Blake Shelton during the live finale performance.
- Before “The Voice,” Sundance almost conquered “American Idol.” He almost made it up to the finals in Season 6 in 2007. According to the article, he was ranked top 13.
- He became a professional recording artist right after his “American Idol” stint, signing with Universal Motown.
- Sundance is not only a singer, but is also a musician. He plays many musical instruments like the guitar, the piano and many more.

1. “The Voice” 2016 Blind Audition – Sundance Head: “I’ve Been Loving You Too Long” – his blind audition at the start of the competition is on top, with over 3.5 million views on the official YouTube channel of the show. During his blind audition, Adam and Blake both turn and indicate they want to be his coach. He eventually chose Blake.

2. The second video on the list is strangely enough, his own rendition of Miley Cyrus’ “The Climb.” This was during the Knockout round of the show. He gives his own subdued flavor to the song while playing his guitar. The video has over 1.8 million views.

3. Finally, the third video on the list is a gospel song “Me and Jesus” which he performed during the Top 10 live performances. With over 700,000 views, according to commentators, it showed Sundance giving his own “softer” version of the song.
