‘The Royals’ Season 4, Episode 2 ‘Confess Yourself to Heaven’ Recap: Jasper’s Time in the Light [SPOILERS]

In the last episode of “The Royals,” Jasper came close to his deathbed. Tonight’s episode, titled “Confess Yourself to Heaven,” was, as always, filled with drama. Jasper (Tom Austen) is in surgery. Liam (William Moseley) is in Greta’s (Lily Loveless) parents’ country house. Cyrus (Jake Maskall) has a very sexual bucket list. Robert (Max Brown), on the other hand, seems to feel more for Willow (Genevieve Gaunt) than Liam does for Greta. All this and more happened tonight on E! Network’s “The Royals” Season 4, episode 2.

“The Royals” should not be fine

After getting a bullet to the chest during King Roberts speech in South London, Jasper is in surgery. We also get a flashback of what his life was like as a kid. Jasper has always been a con man ever since he knew how to walk. He’s also been in love with Len for as long as he has been a con artist. As soon as she gets the news, Len is at the hospital, patiently waiting, carefully watching the doctors try to save Jasper.

When Queen Helena heard of the shooting, she goes off on James Hill (Rocky Marshall), the head of security. The Queen demands information about what’s happening not only for her but because she can help. Then, to the mother’s joy, Robert walks in, and Queen Helena hugs him.
But Robert brushes the incident off like it was nothing. He even asked the Queen about the wedding plans. Robert believes a royal wedding is what everyone needs right now. It’s the “light to chase away the dark.” With that, Queen Helena also calmed down and agreed to work with Willow to look for the best bride. Helena then tells her son to “not be fine” because the people are not okay.

Willow is off the list; the hunt for the perfect Queen

Everyone except Robert is anything but calm, even Willow. When she talks to him about all things social media, it’s apparent that she’s more shaken up than the person someone was trying to shoot. Robert says falling thousands of feet from a plane “tends to steady one’s resting heart rate,” and calms her down with a drink, but not the one drink she promised.
This was Willow’s chance to decline her spot on the list. Inspired by her parents, she chooses to love. She is afraid of the dangers of becoming a royal, but she’s more fearful of her marriage not being real. Robert, on the other hand, has long ago accepted his fate as a royal. His future did not include love. He wishes for something more, but will now have to settle for Willow having that. She promises to find him the perfect queen.

Keeping her promise to Robert, the queen looks at many pictures with Willow, looking for the perfect bride. But as all mothers are, she sees all of them as “vacuous, social climbing sluts.” Then, she asks Willow why number one is missing from the list. Stuttering, Willow says that it might have been Kathryn.
The hunt has gone on few hours, carefully looking at pictures and profiles. The queen has criticized every single one of the candidates. Helena can’t see in them what it takes to replace her. Willow assures her no one can take her place. But whoever they pick will have her as a guide. The queen sees how wise Willow is an entrusts selecting the contenders for her.

“The Royals” are with Jasper

Len is still outside the operating room when her mother comes in. Their conversation is a stark past to their past hateful encounters. Helena was the supportive and caring mother Len needs right now. And Len is the vulnerable girl who needs her mom. Helena even said, “I’m rooting for you, bodyguard.” As a mother, she tells her daughter to come home because things aren’t safe. But Len refuses to leave him again.
After his heartbreaking talk with Willow, Robert decides to be by the side of the man who saved him. Roberts stands by his sister and hugs her. But he’s greeting fell on cold shoulders. She accused him of forbidding Jasper to contact her. He had to sneak letters to her through Liam. Already sad and afraid, she went off on him, saying she’s an adult who doesn’t need protection. But she also accepted part of the blame for choosing to stay away.

Robert tells Len that being away from Jasper, a distraction has led her to do great things. Robert adds something their late father said, that Len should do great. But Len refutes his words saying their dad also told her to choose love. Exactly as she said this, the doctor removed his glove, and the surgery was over. Len ran to him and cried tears of joy. Jasper was going to be okay.

JaspeNor is back

In the private hospital room, the doctor says the severity of the damage is unknown until he wakes up. Len touches Jasper’s hand and sits down by his side. She talks to him, knowing he can’t hear her. She puts his hand over her heart and says, “I’m right here, baby.”
They stay that way until Mr. Hill comes in. When Len asks him about Sarah Alice, he says she knows about Jasper, but after promising her parents would be fine, he doesn’t guarantee the same about Jasper. Len volunteer’s to talk to her because she hasn’t seen her in months.
Then Len sees Sarah Alice, taller than she was when Len left her. Plus, she grew out her teeth. The cute little girl was slightly cross with Len because she didn’t write her back. So they set out to look for the letters Len didn’t receive. She also promised Sarah Alice that Jasper was going to be okay.
Back at the hospital, Robert comes in. Mr. Hill informs him that authorities found the sniper’s and that the assassination attempt was planned. Robert requests a moment alone with his still unconscious bodyguard. Reluctantly, Mr. Hill agreed.
While looking at the letters Sarah Alice sent her, Len receives word that Jasper is awake. Of course, she rushes to his side. With a kiss as a greeting, the couple is happy again. However, the sour look on Robert’s face as he watches them suggests he feels more than disapproval.

Jasper’s name and story are out

In the morning, Jasper gets a phone call from his estranged father, but he ignores it. Then, the Queen of England comes sauntering into the room. Len then follows. The reason for Helena’s visitation is more of damage control than of concern. Assuming Jasper’s name and narrative will surely come out, she and her team have come up with a cover story.
Officially, Jasper is an American CIA agent undercover to infiltrate an international theft ring. And publicly, he isn’t dating the Princess of England. All this will all take place in a press conference. However, Jasper did not follow the queen’s instructions. Instead, he told his actual life story, leaving out incriminating details of course. Jasper also said that the royal family is like the good family Jasper never really knew. When asked if there was a girl in his life he said, “A very beautiful woman has taken my heart. I’m not going to say who she is but we look forward to a long and full life together.”

Cyrus’s “suck it” list and Liam’s spy ways

Cyrus, a dying man with cancer, plans to live the rest of his short life to the fullest. Knowing Cyrus, his bucket list oozes with sexual and erotic activities–and taking down the current King of England.
The list includes a Nuru massage (an incredibly sensual massage where a naked body massages over your naked body), an erotica and kinky themed party, and making Liam go to Greta’s country house to get information on Robert’s bank statements from her father computer.
In a private jet with Greta, Liam receives an alert of the shooting. Then almost instantly, agents and security surround the plane. Liam assumes they think he had something to do with it, but they were there because he was traveling without a security detail.

But even with all that’s happening, Liam still chose to go. They want to bring his brother down, overpowered his sister’s need for him by her side. With deception and stealing, Liam meets Greta’s parents. But instead of the typical “boyfriend talks to the girlfriend’s intimidating father” situation, he sees how low Greta’s father looks at her and still favors her late sister. It might be real feelings for the girl or his nobility, Liam defended her passion for photography during dinner and got into a spat with Greta’s father.
Later that night, Liam tries to get the information off of the father’s computer but was caught by Greta. Liam played it off like he got lost looking for her. Then, in true Liam style, he sleeps with her. But it was not just for fun because when she was fast asleep, Liam returns to the study and successfully gets the information they need to prove that Robert isn’t the clean, good, and just King he claims to be.
“The Royals” continues next Sunday, March 25th, with “Seek For Thy Noble Father in the Dust” at 10/9c on E!
