We may have to wait until 2025 until we get the sequel for The Batman, but we’re going to be returning to Gotham City sooner with the upcoming spinoff The Penguin starring Colin Farrell.
The series is currently undergoing production, and we have some new set photos of Farrell in the Penguin get-up alongside Cristin Milioti who is playing Sofia Falcone. Check these out:

We don’t know exactly how Sofia Falcone will factor into the story, but seeing as how Cobblepot was the glorified henchman of Carmine Falcone (John Turturro), who died by the end of The Batman—it’s likely Sofia could be up for the position of power, and Oz will be the one to show her the ropes (or, you know, usurp her).
With The Batman acting as a semi-origin story for the Gotham City everyone is familiar with, it’s pretty interesting that we got to see an earlier version of the Penguin who isn’t that much of a ‘boss’ yet. By the end of the series, we should expect him to be on top, paving the way for a possible return in the Batman sequel with Pattinson.
I’m just hoping the series gives us appearances from other Gotham rogues who haven’t been in the films. How about an early version of Mr. Freeze? Or maybe Killer Croc as the next big goon-for-hire?
The Penguin still has no specific release date, but hopefully we can get something around early 2024.
