Soon after the hit series “The Vampire Diaries” ended, creator Julie Plec announces a sad truth for fans of the CW series, “The Originals.” Apparently, the upcoming The Originals Season 5 would be the last since the release of its first season in 2013. Plec makes the announcement via Twitter and calls this goodbye a second farewell announcement.
The Originals is a spin-off of The Vampire Diaries and follows the story of vampire Klaus Mikaelson. He and his family get caught up in the supernatural politics of New Orleans. The series got renewed for season 5 in May and according to Julie Pec’s tweet, they start shooting its final season on Monday.
Caroline Forbes Set To Appear In The Originals Season 5
Julie Plec took to Twitter a message of goodbye. She realized that tt has been a year since she announced the end of The Vampire Diaries and called it its anniversary. Plec said it was only fitting to use this anniversary to make a second farewell announcement.
She then asks fans to help them say goodbye to the series. In her tweet she said, “This year we invite you to help us say goodbye to The Originals, which begins shooting its fifth and final season on Monday.”
Plec says she considers it a gift and a burden to be able to control the end of a series. She invites fans to the Comic-Con and said, “Celebrate with us, cry with us, visit with us, watch us next spring when we air and know that in a show about an immortal family who believes in ‘Always and Forever,’ it’s never really the end of the story.”
Although this may be bad news, there is a silver lining as TV Line reports Candice King who plays Caroline Forbes-Salvatore will be in the upcoming season’s premiere. Klaus Mikaelson and Caroline crossing paths earlier than expected just gives fans more reasons to be excited. Truly, a must see for every Klaroline fan out there.
