We’ve been getting a lot of twists on the family sitcom from Rick and Morty to F is for Family, and now FX is giving us a look at a more comedic take on demon possession films like The Omen.
Aubrey Plaza, Danny DeVito, and Lucy DeVito star in the first trailer for Little Demon:
Here’s the official description:
In FX’s Little Demon, an animated comedy featuring the voices of Danny DeVito and Aubrey Plaza, it has been 13 years since being impregnated by Satan, and a reluctant mother, Laura, and her Antichrist daughter, Chrissy, attempt to live an ordinary life in Delaware. However, the two are constantly thwarted by monstrous forces, including Satan, who yearns for custody of his daughter’s soul.
Immediately audiences can notice a similarity of art style when it comes to Rick and Morty, but even if Dan Harmon is attached to the series as a producer, creator credits go to Darcy Fowler, Seth Kirschner, and Kieran Valla.
The premise is admittedly pretty silly, and based on the trailer, we should probably expect some parodies and homages to classic ‘possession’ films like The Exorcist and The Omen. There’s even something in there for Constantine and Blade fans.
The show has an amazing main cast, and besides them, they’ve also managed to nab some top-tier guest stars with Dave Bautista, Mel Brooks, Rhea Perlman, Patrick Wilson, Pamela Adlon, Sam Richardson, and Michael Shannon.
Little Demon comes to FXX this Aug. 25.
