We’ve had movies before which covered the creation of beloved works of art like Hitchcock and Chuck (2016), and now Paramount+ wants to tell the story of the making of The Godfather.
Here’s the trailer for the limited series, The Offer:
Here’s the official description and cast breakdown:
THE OFFER is based on Oscar-winning producer Albert S. Ruddy’s extraordinary, never-revealed experiences of making “The Godfather.” The series stars Miles Teller as Albert S. Ruddy, Matthew Goode as Robert Evans, Juno Temple as Bettye McCartt, Giovanni Ribisi as Joe Colombo, Dan Fogler as Francis Ford Coppola, Burn Gorman as Charles Bluhdorn and Colin Hanks as Barry Lapidus.
Oddly enough, this will be released ahead of another Godfather biopic called Francis and the Godfather which is said to focus on the clash between Coppola and producer Robert Evans. We don’t know how that film will be different from this show, but we do know that the movie has a star-studded cast which includes Oscar Isaac (Coppola), Jake Gyllenhaal (Robert Evans), Elle Fanning, and Elisabeth Moss.
Back to The Offer though, I think this one will be a more extensive look at the making of the film, seeing as it has the time for narrative that a series does. I guess for now, we’ll just have to wait and see how the two properties stack up against each other. I mean, Francis and the Godfather is still in pre-production for now.
The Offer starts streaming on Paramount+ on April 28.
