‘The Mick’ Season 2 Recap: Mickey’s Life So Far, What to Expect in 'The Juice' [SPOILERS]

After another two weeks of living life without “The Mick,” they’re back with more laughing-so-hard-no-sound-comes-out moments and oh-my-gosh-that-did-not-just-happen revelations. With Mickey (Kaitlin Olson), Jimmy (Scott MacArthur), Sabrina (Sofia Black D’Elia), Chip (Thomas Barbusca), Ben (Jack Stanton), and Alba (Carla Jimenez) back together, prepare your ass for some laughing off.

Social climbing, acid tripping, dump exploring, and church going

In case you forgot what Mickey and the gang have been up to, let me refresh your memory.
In “The Climb” episode of “The Mick,” Mickey (Kaitlin Olson) and Sabrina (Sofia Black D’Elia) host a salon (in Sabrina’s words, a salon is an “intellectual gathering of young tastemakers.) It goes downhill when Mickey decides that she doesn’t want to be friends with Jennie Garth (playing herself) anymore and tries to make her leave. She fails when she hears about the invite to Mario Lopez’s party from Jennie. Later, she ties Ben’s (Jack Stanton) ex-friend and son of Jennie, Totsi (Jack Fisher), to a chair because he put her nephew in a sleeper choke and would not keep his trap shut about it to his mother. When his mother, Jennie, finds him in that position, she loses her mind and Mickey loses her “access to all of Hollywood.”

After a soccer game, Howard Buckley (Matthew Glave) visits his biological son, Chip (Thomas Barbusca). They both say they want to reconnect and spend time with each other. So Howard takes Chip with him to his business trip in Maine. After a camping accident ending with Howard’s foot injury and a trip to the hospital, he receives some bad news and tells Chip about it. Howard isn’t his biological father. He then hands his “son” a photo of a convicted felon.

Then, Sabrina and Mickey go on an acid trip in “The Trip.” Mickey gives her old denim jacket to Sabrina on the day of her Yale interview. The teenage girl finds LSD in the coat, brings it to school and trips her mind out. She calls Mickey for help, but Mickey fails to get her out of the closet, so she takes the remaining acid, and together they trip their minds out. They lose each other in the see of students rushing to their next class when the bell rings. Mickey sees Ben, and he indirectly gives her a genius idea. She uses the PA system to call Sabrina to meet her in the closet. Still lingering on a high, they talk about hopes and dreams, until it’s time for Sabrina’s Yale interview. With her self-awareness and monologue about growing in Yale, she aces her interview.

Alba gets a call from her cousin Dagoberto (Izzy Diaz) that he’s coming to the States to visit her in her job. Panicked and worried about not working anymore, she puts on her maid uniform and puts in a show. Chip gets home early and gives Dagoberto a job, as he is looking for one. Alba makes Chip play along and to give her cousin demanding jobs to make Dagoberto quit. The tasks were not enough, though, so Alba got Chip to fire Dagoberto with a little blackmail.
Also, Chip and Sabrina end up being in charge of grooming their grandfather, The Colonel (E.J. Callahan.) The find out that they can use The Colonel’s veteran status to get freebies around the mall. When they try to use him to get alcohol, they lose him. They later find him in a dodgy place without shoes.

In “The Dump,” Mickey and Alba go on a field trip to the garbage dump with Ben and his classmates. They rode the bus with 20 students but got back with 21. They find the extra kid and take him back to the dump but panic and retreat when they see police cars all over the place. They end up bringing him home and calling him Dump (Aaron Castellano). Still panicked, Alba and Mickey know the police are looking for the kid, which could look like they kidnapped him. With two attempts at calling the cops, Mickey decides to play along with the kidnapping. Giving cops information about the drop point and ransom (which Alba suggested as not seem like molesters.) Ben and Dump go missing just as they’re about to leave. The two girls go to the dump, the only place they know Ben would go. To make Ben let Dump go, Mickey had to compromise: going with Ben to a field trip every other year for a hundred years.

Finally, in “The Church,” Alba admits to having a drug problem. Mickey and the others go to church with her. She then invites the priest to Sunday football, and they all start to like him. However, Ben begins to have an existential crisis, doubting his belief in God. His older siblings, Sabrina and Chip, end up guiding him.

What’s next for Mickey and the Pembertons in ‘The Mick’?

Everyone following Mickey and her dysfunctional family knows that they can expect more wild antics and funny but outrageous reveals. So for the next episode, titled “The Juice,” we’re going to get to see Mickey teaching Ben how to gamble and end up losing a lot more than they thought they’d win. So, hoping to take back what was lost, Mickey places a bet on one of the games of Junior National Women’s Soccer team, whose captain is in a relationship with Sabrina. On the other side, Jimmy starts to obsess over the team winning.
“The Mick” continues next Tuesday, February 27th, with “The Juice” at 9:30 PM on FOX.
