'The Mick' Season 2, Episode 16 'The Accident' Recap: Bed-Wetting Incidents and Fake ID's [SPOILERS]

How long would you go to save someone else’s reputation? Apparently, for Mickey (Kaitlin Olson), Jimmy (Scott MacArthur), and Alba (Carla Jimenez), the limit is endless—especially if it’s Ben’s (Jack Stanton) on the line. Tonight’s episode of “The Mick,” titled “The Accident,” shows us just how these adults expertly (well, maybe drastically) handle Ben’s bed-wetting situation. Meanwhile, Chip (Thomas Barbusca) and his friend Eduardo (Faly Rakotohavana) try to befriend Sabrina’s (Sofia Black-D’Elia) girlfriends as they offer up a way for them to enter a club with a fake ID. It’s not exactly a hard task for Eduardo, the fraud expert, but it all ends badly for Chip.

Ben gatecrashes a sleepover

“The Accident” opens with a spaghetti meal and Ben sulking over the fact that Tony, one of his classmates, didn’t invite Ben over for a sleepover at his house. Mickey suggests throwing his own party, but Alba thinks they should invite Tony over to a fake address so he could get in trouble. There’s only one catch—Ben couldn’t invite anyone anyway because Tony already had them all over to his house.

Mickey and Jimmy think it’s shameful for Tony to leave Ben out, so they take matters into their own hands. Mickey goes over to Tony’s house and confronts his mother (a typical yes mom) about excluding Ben from the sleepover. She and admits that it was Tony who came up with the guest list himself. Mickey then tries to force her to apologize to Ben, and the mom reluctantly lets him in the house. Mickey instructs Ben to play along, while Jimmy gives him a DVD to watch in case things don’t play out alright.

Wetting the bed

That night, Ben calls Mickey to tell her that he wet his bed. It disappoints Mickey and Jimmy, but they’re determined to save Ben from humiliation. Suddenly, Alba barges in their room (as she’s been eavesdropping all along) to ask what their plan is. Later, they arrive at Tony’s house and asks Ben to toss his wet pajamas to Mickey. Ben does as requested, but the damp stuff lands on Mickey’s face. They then throw Ben a bunch of clean clothes, but it falls awkwardly on the side of the porch’s roof. Mickey uses a vertical garden as a ladder and hands the bag over to Ben. She instructs him to change the sheets, but Ben asks for her help. As Mickey flips the mattress over, she discovers that Ben’s pee stain went through the material, making it impossible to change the sheets. Mickey calls out to Jimmy and Alba outside to tell them that they need a new mattress. Alba then climbs up to help Mickey throw the bed away. Jimmy, on the other hand, goes to a nearby motel to steal a mattress.
As soon as Alba hoists herself up, she proceeds to help Mickey smuggle the mattress out from the window. Just when things seem okay, the windows shut as soon as the bed is out. Try as Ben may, he couldn’t open the windows. Mickey then calls up Jimmy to ask where he is, to which he responds annoyingly. Jimmy tells Mickey that he’ll be there. But what he was actually doing is eating a bag of chips while watching a movie inside the motel room.

Mickey tries to climb down, but the vertical garden falls. Alba panics, but Mickey throws the mattress down the lawn and jumps, landing awfully on the ground. This makes Alba fear to jump even more, so she stays on the roof. Jimmy then arrives but hits Mickey with his car. The new mattress he fastened on top of the vehicle also flew away and landed on a puddle of mud. Now they’re back right where they started. They won’t be able to use that other mattress now because the kids might think that Ben had a terrible case of diarrhea. Alba tries to encourage them by saying that maybe some other kid will pee the bed and Ben won’t be the only one after all. This statement, however, gives Mickey a sick idea. She asks Jimmy to help her get the mattress back inside. Jimmy picks up a rock and aims to throw it at the window, but Mickey stops him. Jimmy thinks they can put a dead squirrel in the room so it won’t look like a break-in. Mickey doesn’t know where to find a dead squirrel, so she has none of it. Jimmy says they can have a flying squirrel body by looking for a dead squirrel and bird and gluing them together (who else LOL’ed at this?!).
While Jimmy and Mickey argue, Ben opens the front door to let them in. Now comes Mickey’s sinister idea—peeing on the sleeping boys. At first, Jimmy thought she was referring to him, but Mickey wants Ben to do it. SO they make him drink a big bottle of soda and Ben proceeds to pee in each of the kid’s sleeping bags and beds. As soon as Ben finishes, Mickey and Jimmy tuck him in and leave.

Chip and Eduardo: Fake ID Extraordinaires

Elsewhere in the episode, we see Sabrina frantically search for her ID. Her two friends are waiting for her, and they can’t get into the club without Sabrina. Meanwhile, Chip and Eduardo watch the commotion on their laptops. Chip waits for them to remove their clothes, but they never did. Seeing their predicament, Eduardo tells Chip that he can make them fake ID’s so they can also hang out with them at the club. Chip thinks it’s a great idea, so he goes for it.
They then burst into Sabrina’s room and propose the idea to the girls. At first, Sabrina doesn’t like it, but her friends are all desperate, so she agrees to have Eduardo make their fake ID’s. He then shows them their fake ones—Chip is seen as a 40-year-old man while Eduardo has “Jaden Smith” as his name on the ID (he kind of looks like it too).

Later, the boys return to Sabrina’s room carrying the ID’s. They’re also wearing flashy suits, so Sabrina convinces Chip to dress casually. According to Sabrina’s friends, they won’t even talk to a guy who’s dressed up like them. Chip and Eduardo leave to change their clothes as Sabrina takes off Chip’s coat. When the boys return, they find Sabrina and her friends ditched them. Sabrina got the ID’s in Chip’s jacket, and they didn’t want to hang out with them anyway. Luckily, Chip prepared for this scenario. He placed a phony ID with an old woman’s face on it so Sabrina nor her friends can’t use it. Forced to come back, Sabrina has the limo pick Chip up.

Chip left out, and Ben’s reputation saved

As soon as they arrive at the club, the bouncer lets Sabrina and her friends in but prevents Chip and Eduardo from entering even if they have IDs. Eduardo shows him the ID, and the bouncer mistakenly thinks of him as the real Jaden Smith, letting him inside after all. Chip, on the other hand, is left outside, with the limo riding off without him.

The episode then ends with Jimmy and Micky returning the vertical garden to its original place the following morning. As they leave, Tony’s mother goes out to get the morning paper but sees them too. Mickey tells her that they’re picking Ben up, who—as if on cue—bursts out of the house beaming with excitement. Another boy now invited him to the next sleepover, as they now believe that they are all pee brothers after discovering that all of them “wet” their beds. Jimmy, Mickey, Ben now leave and we see Alba still stuck on the roof, sleeping.

‘The Mick: The Accident’ Overall Verdict

“The Accident” has got to be one of the funniest episodes of “The Mick” Season 2. The best part about today’s show was Jimmy’s impressive logic and impression of flying squirrels. Seriously, who could’ve come up with a more accurate description of the animal than Jimmy? Chip, on the other hand, still fails at trying to fit in. I don’t think he’s ever going to have a real truce with Sabrina, seeing how their toxic sibling love-hate relationship slash rivalry often leads nowhere, or one of them only getting the upper hand.
“The Mick” continues next Tuesday, March 13th, with “The Night Off” at 9:30 PM on FOX.
