The show is actor-director Jon Favreau’s latest Star Wars project, with A-list directors joining the fore including Bryce Dallas Howard, Taika Waititi, Rick Famuyiwa, and Deborah Chow. Star Wars: The Clone Wars creator Dave Filoni will also direct the show’s pilot episode.
Set between the events of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, The Mandalorian follows the story of “a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.”
In Star Wars canon, the Mandalorians are human species who live on the planet Mandalore. They were known as warriors who were against the way of the Jedi. During the clone wars, the Mandalorians were responsible for crafting the iconic armor of bounty hunter Jango Fett and his son, Boba.
