More developments on the TV adaptation of the 1987 movie Lost Boys continue to pour in, as The CW officially casts Teen Wolf alum Tyler Posey in a leading role for the upcoming series. Joining Posey in the super-charged cast are Kiele Sanchez, Medalion Rahimi, and Dakota Shapiro.
According to Deadline, Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke will return to the vampire genre as she has been tapped to direct the pilot episode. Posey will play Michael Emerson while Sanchez plays his mother, Lucy. In the 1987 film, Michael and Lucy were portrayed by Jason Patric and Diane Wiest. Rahimi plays Stella, a distinct version of Jami Gertz’ Star in the original movie. Shapiro, on the other hand, will take over Kiefer Sutherland’s role as the vampire David.
The new series will follow in the vein of the Joel Schumacher-directed movie, as Lucy and her two sons, Michael and Sam, travel to Santa Carla, California. The town is also a secret underworld of vampires. As Michael and Sam cope with the death of their father and the struggles of moving into a new town, they slowly find their way into the gang of young vampires. Michael will then be caught up in a love triangle between David and Stella, as the latter feels an instant connection with Michael. David, however, is madly in love with Stella.
The Lost Boys has no set premiere date yet.
