The Hustle Is Real in Trailer for White Men Can’t Jump Reboot

Back in the 90s, audiences were treated to an R-rated comedy about street basketball called White Men Can’t Jump starring Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson; and while we don’t expect the two to return for some kind of sequel, Hulu has decided to go the reboot route with Sinqua Walls and Jack Harlow.

Check out the trailer for the White Men Can’t Jump reboot:

The description reads:

A comedy about basketball hustlers who work on the premise that white men can’t play as well as black men.

What’s interesting is, the reboot looks to be keeping to the spirit of the original. I can imagine a street basketball comedy would be more profitable for audiences if it was PG-13, but the movie pretty much embraces the R-rating of the original film; of course, they also updated the references to work for a 2020s audience.

For context, here’s the trailer for the original starring Harrison and Snipes:

I guess it’s also worth mentioning that the late Lance Reddick will be in the movie. We don’t know how huge his role will be, but it’s great that he managed to put in some comedy roles before his death; I think his part in John Wick can actually get pretty serious, and if you follow Reddick’s work, he does tend to full around from time to time.

As for the movie, it looks like a lot of fun, and this should be an interesting twist on the ‘buddy-cop’ dynamic seeing that the two are ‘buddy-criminals’.

White Men Can’t Jump is set to release on May 19 on Hulu.
