[00:01:00] A man went to a tailor to buy a shirt. Then, he went to a liquor store to buy a bottle of whisky. He proceeded to Henry’s office and found him slumped on his desk, so he woke Henry up and poured him a glass of whisky. Henry didn’t want to proceed with his day, but the man convinced him to do so. He handed the fresh shirt over to Henry and asked the man for another glass of whiskey. When he exited Henry’s office, he saw a woman freshening up—it was Ms. Jessel. The man introduced himself as Peter Quint. Peter noticed the stain on Rebecca’s blouse, so he asked her if she needed a minute to fix it, but she just hid it behind her hair. Peter warned her that Henry would notice the stain, but she didn’t care.
[00:03:30] Peter accompanied Rebecca inside Henry’s office. He introduced her to Henry, who was already looking at her file. Immediately, Henry noticed the stain on Rebecca’s blouse. Henry wants to do the interview, but he’s still a bit sour from sleeping in his office, so Peter took over and read Rebecca’s file. He wondered why Rebecca is applying as an au pair when her records clearly show she’s bound for greatness. She told Peter she’s good at the job, which is why she wants to apply for it. After the day, Peter asked Henry what he thought of Rebecca. Henry commented on Peter’s remarks calling the au pair position a nanny. He apologized for his mistake, but Henry didn’t mind.
[00:06:00] Back to the present, an officer came to Bly manor. Dani told him she saw Peter Quint and showed the police his photograph with Rebecca. Hannah told Dani that the police knew Peter because he emptied Henry’s bank account the year before. The officer didn’t take the call seriously, but Hannah threatened to call Henry and tell him about his lack of enthusiasm. He told them he would do another sweep of the grounds before leaving. The officer drove off and left. Dani took the iron poker and went outside to sweep the grounds herself.
[00:08:00] Meanwhile, we’re back to the past as Peter accompanies Rebecca for the first time to Bly manor. Everyone welcomed her, and Flora didn’t waste time showing her around. Rebecca felt at peace and didn’t want to leave Bly—and she got what she wished, the storyteller said. Flora showed Rebecca the garden statues while Dani arrived at the same garden looking for Peter Quint. She bumped into Jamie, carrying a gun with her. She killed lots of rats using it and wanted to shoot Peter—she hopes to add Peter to her list of dead rats. The two of them headed to the chapel and continued their search. Jamie saw some lit candles and thought Hannah forgot to put them out. She blew the candles and returned to the manor with Dani.
[00:13:30] The two returned and saw everyone gathered in the kitchen. Flora offered some hot chocolate for them. Owen volunteered to stay with them for the night as Hannah is worried that Peter is still out on the grounds. The thought of a sleepover excited Miles and Flora. She was hyped up and wanted to drink more hot chocolate, but Hannah told her she would be up all night if she drank some more. Flora got more excited at the thought of staying up all night, but it turned out that they couldn’t last all night long—the siblings slept by the fireplace as everyone else kept watch. Owen told them his theories about why Peter returned to Bly; their prank caller could be Peter, he said.
[00:15:30] Owen thinks Peter hopes that Rebecca will answer the phone. Hannah thought Owen was crazy because Rebecca is already dead, but Owen said Peter might not know Rebecca is dead. He explained that Peter may have already used up all of Henry’s money, had a change of heart, or just missed Rebecca, which is why he keeps on calling the house. Owen ended his theory by telling everyone Peter returned to Bly to check on Rebecca. Jamie said she didn’t want to be around when Peter discovers Rebecca is dead. We go back to Rebecca’s time as she’s playing with Flora and her dolls. Miles thought dolls were ridiculous, but Rebecca defended the dolls. She told Miles dolls are wonderful because you get to imagine things and make stories.
[00:17:00] Flora didn’t think of her dolls as made-up. She told Rebecca that she would make a doll just for her. Peter walked into the classroom while Flora and Rebecca conversed about her favorite color. He gave a bouquet to Flora and told her to share some with Rebecca, so she gave a rose to Rebecca. Then, they went to the kitchen to put the flowers in a vase. Miles talked to Peter about girls and their obsessions with flowers. Peter explained people are like closed doors; you need to find their keys to open them. Then, he told Miles that the key is flowers for some women, and for his Uncle Henry, the key is money.
[00:19:00] Rain poured over Bly as Peter was about to finish Henry’s errands. He didn’t want to drive back to London in the bad weather, so Rebecca asked him to join her for tea. They went to the kitchen to wait out the storm. Peter asked what she wanted in life—he couldn’t imagine she dreamt of being an au pair with all her talents. Peter looked at her in high regard due to her educational attainments. Rebecca gave in to Peter’s charms and told him her real agenda—she wants to be a barrister like Henry Wingrave. She tried to become a barrister like everyone else, but it was a man’s world; she couldn’t compete with all the men trying to get her in bed.
[00:21:00] Rebecca felt frustrated, so she decided to take another route. She applied as the au pair to get Henry to mentor her. Peter knew Rebecca’s goal and told her to go for it. Rebecca returned the question and asked Peter why he’s working for Henry. He said he’s also looking for the opportunity to fulfill his dreams. Peter flirted with Rebecca, but he cut their conversation short and left. It was all part of his ploy to get Rebecca to fall for him, which was working.
[00:24:00] Time passed, and Hannah fell asleep on Owen’s shoulder. She apologized to Owen upon waking up, but he didn’t mind. Hannah said she wasn’t getting enough sleep, so Owen told her to continue sleeping on his shoulder while Jamie and Dani continued to talk, watching the kids sleep. After a few minutes, Hannah said they should bring the children to bed. Jamie carried Flora to bed while Dani woke up Miles and accompanied him to his room. Dani went to bed and saw the broken glasses on her bedside table. It triggered her visions—she saw a wounded hand trying to reach her. She closed her eyes to keep herself calm; the vision subsided when she opened her eyes again.
[00:28:30] Peter arrived at the manor while Rebecca played cards with Miles and Flora. Miles wanted to see his Uncle, but Peter didn’t know when Henry would visit. He sympathized with Miles telling him that he also lost his father when he was younger. Peter showed him his lighter. It was all that Peter had from his father, but he decided to give it to Miles. His gesture touched Rebecca. That night, Peter went to Rebecca’s room. She was still awake and heard creaking floorboards outside. Rebecca got up to open the door and saw Peter standing outside her room. He apologized to Rebecca, but she pulled him in.
[00:31:00] Dani woke up and found Jamie sleeping on the couch the next day. Hannah was already at the chapel, lighting candles and praying. She saw another crack on the wall when Owen arrived. He volunteered to stay the whole day with them instead of going back to his mother. Hannah didn’t want to keep him, but he insisted. Hannah looked at the wall again, but the crack was gone. Dani went to check on the children and found Miles was already awake. He wanted to go on a picnic, but Dani must wake Flora first. Miles told Dani they needed to find Flora. She opened Flora’s room, but she wasn’t in bed, so she went out to look for Flora.
[00:33:00] Flora went to the lake. She reminisced about when she made the black doll for Rebecca, the same black doll she always kept under her dresser. Rebecca asked Flora why she had made a black doll. She said Miles told her that if you mix all the colors in the world, you would only get black. The doll is beautiful, Rebecca responded. Flora told her that Peter thinks she’s beautiful. Dani found Flora by the lake; she immediately took her back to the manor. Flora squirmed and shouted as she was looking at Rebecca. She wore a black dress and stood on the other side of the lake. Hannah called the family doctor to check on Flora. He told them everything’s going to be alright.
[00:35:00] Dani couldn’t believe that Henry didn’t show up even when she told him that she’s about to call the family doctor. Hannah told Dani that nothing would ever get Henry back to Bly manor. They didn’t know why, but Dani intended to find out. She told Hannah that she had found Flora by the lake. She knew Flora hated the lake, but she couldn’t understand why she went there. Miles told Dani that Flora didn’t hate the lake; no one could hate the lake. Flora lies a lot which is why she kept telling people that she hated the lake, Miles added. Back to the past, Rebecca woke up the next day with Peter by her side. He greeted and kissed Rebecca like any man would. She realized the time, and she got up as quickly as possible.
[00:37:00] Peter tried to keep Rebecca in bed, but she knew the kids needed her. She told Peter to keep his thoughts of her until tonight since he’s still staying. Peter showed aggression as he grabbed Rebecca’s arm and told her to come back to bed. She told Peter to have some patience and left the room. Hannah told Owen that he would be cooking for seven people again because Peter plans on staying another night. Peter went to the kitchen to grab a pair of glasses to drink a wine from the cellar. Hannah and Owen couldn’t believe Peter had taken a wine without their knowledge—it was like he owned the place. Peter took Rebecca to the old wing. He showed her a coat owned by Mrs. Wingrave, something he convinced Henry to give her.
[00:39:00] Rebecca knew the coat belonged to Mrs. Wingrave, but Peter told her she never wore it. Peter added some of the things inside the manor were going to auction, which is why she could have the coat. He managed to convince Rebecca to try the coat on. She put it on, but Peter told her to feel it on her skin. Rebecca undressed in front of Peter and placed the coat on her skin. Peter looked in the mirror and went back to Rebecca. They started kissing as Peter took a selfie with Rebecca. He threw Rebecca in bed and followed her, but Hannah interrupted them. She reminded Rebecca that the children were left alone, so she went back to tend to the children while Hannah confronted Peter. She threatened to have Peter fired for entering the old wing and using Mrs. Wingrave’s things.
[00:42:30] Peter didn’t have any choice but to follow Hannah’s orders. She told him to clean things up and keep out of the old wing. Peter went down to the kitchen to join the others preparing for dinner. Owen was preparing a batter for the cake he’s making and asked the children for help. Flora thought the batter needed more strawberry, while Miles believed it needed more lemon. Owen asked everyone around, and they reached a tie. Peter tasted the batter as the tiebreaker and decided to go with strawberry. Later that night, Rebecca went back to her room to find Peter preparing for London. He was jealous and accused Rebecca of flirting with Owen. She told him that Owen just wanted her to taste the batter. Peter didn’t like what happened, and he just walked out.
[00:46:30] Dani was staring at Peter and Rebecca’s photo when the phone rang. She answered it, but no one responded. She asked the caller if he was Peter, but the call suddenly ended. Miles and Flora went to the kitchen to announce story time. She couldn’t believe the children were acting like nothing happened. Hannah explained they bounce back from things quite fast, then Owen told Dani story time is like therapy for Flora. It meant that she had gotten over what they were dealing with and was ready to move on. The siblings went on with story time as Dani cheered them on. During the performance, the phone rang. Jamie got up to answer it. She told Peter that Rebecca is dead, but Peter wasn’t on the other line. Jamie called out to Owen and told him about his mother.
[00:52:00] They accompanied Owen back to his car. Hannah whispered something to his ear as he bursted into tears. Dani walked Jamie to her truck as Hannah went to the chapel to light a candle. Dani was glad Jamie stayed with them. Jamie answered that she, too, was happy she stayed. Jamie drove off while Dani went back to the manor. As she turned around, she came face-to-face with the shadowy figure in her visions—it was a man wearing a pair of glasses that lit up like they were a pair of flashlights. Dani started crying, and the figure ran back to the manor.
