'The Good Place' Season 2: 3 Forkin’ Awesome Things To Expect

Last year, NBC’s “The Good Place” served up one of the greatest motherforkin’ plot twists to ever grace our screens. The wonderful utopia our four quirky protagonists had found themselves? That so-called Good Place with its yogurt shops, flight lessons, and towering mansions? Yeah, it turned out to be a twisted version of hell created to play on their worst anxieties and fears. Can you say brilliant?
In the finale, Eleanor Shellstrop (Kristen Bell) finally uncovered the deception and told the others the truth. Unfortunately, the scheming Michael (Ted Danson) wiped everyone’s memories and got the go-ahead to give his experiment another try. So with everyone basically back to square one memory-wise, what can we expect from Season 2?
1. A Completely Different Story
In a video sneak-peek, Kristen Bell teased a “completely different story” for Season 2. Michael rebooted The Good Place, but that doesn’t mean things are going to happen exactly as they did before. With the twist revealed, the show now gets to pull back the proverbial curtains and reveal even more intricate world-building. Expect more torture, more demons, and a closer look at exactly how the Afterlife operates.
2. A Lot More Michael
While Season 1 found Eleanor at the center of the action, this time we see things from Michael’s perspective. Viewers will watch Michael direct his demon crew and basically try to hold his plan together. In an interview with Variety, creator Mike Schur explained that the shift keeps the show interesting for viewers. “Now, you’re seeing a bunch of stuff but you’re seeing it through the eyes of the people staging it rather than the people in the middle of it,” Schur said.
3. A Closer Look At Chidi
Season 2 also promises more character backstories, particularly for Chidi Anagonye (William Jackson Harper). Despite his good intentions, Chidi’s frustrating indecision apparently secured him a spot in The Good Place. A harsh judgment, to be sure. Especially when comparing his pure intentions with the admittedly corrupt background of Eleanor. But Season 2 promises to answer his questions, to some degree.
