The Girls are Back in Trailer for the 2nd Season of Hacks

Last year saw Hacks premiere on HBO, and after a critically-acclaimed first season, Deborah Vance and her secret comedy writer Ava are ready to make their come back next month.

The finale of Hacks saw Deborah actually try out some new material for her last show—only to have it bomb. Even if that was the case, Deborah has found a new fire with her job, and the end of the season teased her going on tour with Ava to test out her material.

While both leads Hannah Einbinder and Jean Smart are amazing in the series, there has been special attention put to Smart. She may only be playing Deborah in this show, but she has also managed to star in two other highly-acclaimed HBO properties recently with Mare of Easttown and Watchmen. Smart is just nailing one great performance after another.

Of course, I shouldn’t sell Einbinder short. The character of Ava is also fun to watch, and it’s great how the two leads actually have great chemistry, despite being polar opposites when it comes to the approach to their career.

After a great first season with some fun characters, I’m eager for more of this team in Hacks. With Deborah going on tour, we should probably expect some more fun characters to make an appearance; I’m also suspecting that Deborah will be the one to mentor Ava into stepping into the spotlight in the future.
