The Future is Here in New Trailer for Westworld 4

It was 2020 when the last season of Westworld premiered, but now HBO is ready to come back to one of their smartest sci-fi shows. Watch the trailer for Westworld Season 4:

The series may have lost heavy hitters like Sir Anthony Hopkins, but the show still manages to keep top-notch actors with Evan Rachel Wood, Thandiwe Newton, Ed Harris, and Jeffrey Wright. Let’s also not forget last season’s newcomer Aaron Paul, who has been a great new pair for Dolores— too bad James Marsden is off busy being Sonic the Hedgehog’s dad.

While the series has been called Westworld, the last season finally had us leaving the park and jumping into the ‘real world’. Even then, the place isn’t safe from the ills of technology, and it’s been revealed that the Rehoboam AI has been keeping humans themselves locked in some kind of pre-determined cage, and the last season saw it being dismantled.

I’ll admit, not every season of Westworld has been perfect, but the concepts and themes are just so great and it really feels like they are using the genre at its best—when it’s asking questions that make us give a hard look at our own humanity. We don’t know where the series is headed for now, but with the way the show is meticulously put together, creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy probably have a solid ending in mind.

Westworld returns to HBO Max this June 26.
