Months after ‘Justice Leagues’ poor box office rating, Warner Bros. decides to push back filming for The Flash‘s standalone movie. According to an article from Variety, the studio does not have enough time to start filming, since the script itself is still undergoing some changes. Also, Warner Bros. has to deal with a string of problems before it could start with anything.
Delays
The schedule for filming has problems as well. The movie’s lead actor, Ezra Miller, has a supporting role in Fantastic Beasts, a Harry Potter spinoff. Unfortunately, Fantastic Beasts starts shooting on July, making the previously set March timeline for the Flash impossible to follow. As a result, the movie begins production in 2019.
Warner Bros. has plenty of things on its plate. Aquaman hits the theaters on December while a sequel to Wonder Woman happens next year. Also, Suicide Squad has a follow-up in the works as well as Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker movie.
In 2016, the film’s director, Rick Famuyiwa, left due to creative differences. Famuyiwa’s exit temporarily halted production for the film. Last January, Warner Bros. announced that John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are directing the film. With all of what has been going on, the fans are likely to see the Flash hit the theaters in 2021.
