'The Flash' Season 4: A 'Fairly Epic Emotional Journey' For Tom Cavanagh's Harrison Wells

You never know what to expect from Harrison Wells. This will be further explored on “The Flash” Season 4, as it’s being teased that Harry will be brought into great lengths to test his emotional capabilities. Tom Cavanagh, who plays the character, has brought in different iterations of Harrison Wells. He was once the main villain back in season 1, and he even came from as far as a different earth in the latest season. Now it seems like the show will continue this kind of Narrative for Harry, as another version of him will be introduced in “The Flash” yet again.

The New Narrative For Harrison Wells in ‘The Flash’ Season 4

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly’s Spoiler Room, “The Flash” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said that Harry will be tangled up in an emotional/existential conundrum.

“He’s a genius, and his daughter is safe, and she’s The Flash on Earth-3, and he’s one of those people who’s realizing that he doesn’t have a life,” Kreisberg says. “So season 4 for Harry is really realizing what he’s missing in his life and what it is he needs to become a better, more complete person, and so he’s going to be going on a fairly epic emotional journey this season that is tied to The Thinker’s plan.”

It was revealed earlier that The Thinker will be the new villain for Season 4. It’s the first time that “The Flash” will be featuring a non-speedster as the main Big Bad. Over the past three seasons, it was Reverse Flash, Zoom, and Savitar who invaded Central City with their terror. The Thinker, however, will be more of a psychological foe for Barry and co. It’s interesting how this will affect Harry’s emotional side, and given how Cavanagh is known to give impressive takes on different personalities of Harrison Wells, there’s no doubt that it will be another groundbreaking standout character.

“The Flash” Season 4 premieres October 10th, Tuesday at 8 PM on The CW.
