The Dark Knight Meets the Penguin in New Clip from The Batman

The Batman is currently tearing it up in the box office, and promotion continues to get everyone to watch Robert Pattinson’s turn as the Dark Knight. Just in, we have a new clip of Batman in the Iceberg Lounge, beating up goons until he runs into Falcone’s head man, the Penguin.

It’s a nice short clip that gives us a look at how the Batman fights, but I’m always more interested in the scene that happens afterward with him having a talk with the Penguin. While criminals usually run from Batman, it’s kind of impressive that Penguin would introduce himself and have a chat with Batman in his office. It kind of informs the character of Oz that he isn’t so easy to scare, and he’s willing to negotiate rather than turn to violence.

While The Batman could seem rather bleak, the Penguin was a surprising source of comic relief. And while the character has been used for laughs before, I kind of like the idea that he’s still on top of things that Batman isn’t; like how he points out a specific clue that went over Gordon and Batman’s heads.

For now, Colin Farrell is gearing up for his own Penguin series on HBO Max. We don’t know when it comes out, but it’s said to follow Oz’s rise to power in Gotham. Hopefully we get a look at the show before the year ends. I’m guessing it will come alongside the release of Batgirl, which is rumoured to come out this December.

The Batman is now in theaters.
